Perry: ‘God help us’ if Romney doesn’t win

(CNN) – If the voters who supported his presidential bid aren’t fired up to support Mitt Romney, the GOP had “better get a fire going,” Rick Perry said Thursday.

“God help us if he doesn’t win,” Perry said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican Texas governor looked beyond differences that emerged on the campaign trail between himself and the former Massachusetts governor, including the financial industry bailout designed to keep “too big to fail” banks above water.

“I think he understands that too big to fail – and I’ve heard him say that on numerous occasions – is not appropriate, and that the economic models of supply and demand - they work,” Perry said.

The issue of bank bailouts made under the administration of President George W. Bush, however, may be a lasting difference between Perry and Romney. While Romney has said he opposed federal bailout of the auto industry – arguing in his “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed that a process of managed bankruptcy would serve the company better – he said as recently as March that the financial industry bailout was a different matter.

“There was a different occurrence that happened at the end of President Bush’s term, and this was that there was a concern in the country that all of the banks were going to go out of business, that there was going to be a run on the banks,” Romney said in Arbutus, Maryland. Concerned with the stability of large banks, he said companies were prepared to pull millions of dollars from their accounts, and with that “there was a fear that the whole economic system of America would collapse.”

Perry had a different take on bailouts on Thursday. “Whether it’s Wall Street or motor companies, is bad public policy.”

When he withdrew from the presidential race after a disappointing finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry threw his support to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who ended his own bid this week. As the nomination appeared increasingly to be going Romney’s way, Perry made a late April announcement that he would back Romney.

But should Romney not win in November, Perry may have yet another run up his sleeve. He said in February that the 2012 debates “could be” preparation for a White House run in 2016.

Keep religion out of politics. If this creep wants to help, say something positive. if he cannot say something positive, he's invited to keep his mouth shut. A creep like this, bringing God into the equation, is reprehensible.

I remember Perry asking God to help put the fires out in Texas. I also remember that God was not a big help with those fires.

These republicans are crazy. They are allowing their voters to bring guns to the convention in August. Perry has the nerve to bring up God when they are all hypocrits. There is not a Christian bone in their bodies. God does not protect the greedy and selfish.

Mitt Romney said yesterday at a Michelle Bachman led rally that he would do " everything the opposite of Obama" on the economy. Well, Barack has lowered taxes over the last 3 years ( let the bush cuts stay in place and created more cuts/ incentives than anyone in last 50 years). I guess Mitt would do the opposite? Do Republicans EVER think about what they say?Or do they just spew their venom on Fox? What is wrong with these people? I know they went to school but they are truly embarrassing. God help America? Yeah...and will He teach the far right to think and act like Christians while He is at it ? Thank you Lord.

Oh boy, here we go again. Republicans are rolling out the old time tested strategy of scaring voters into voting Republican. Perry is pandering directly to the evangelicals. If they had any brains they would realize that the devil prophesized to return as a false prophet, gathering up followers in a false religion. The problem is that they do not reccognize the false religion, even when it is shouting them down in their faces. It's called greed, and they have been taught tha greed is good.

Perry is an idiot. It's only a matter of time before he starts talking about secession again. And I'm sure the voters can't wit for him to do his stumbling drunk act on the campaign trail again.

With Obama's pathetic record Romney will win. That sleeping giant of frustrated voters is just waiting for the polls to open.
I'd rather a rich man in office who actually knows how to generate income than a liberal community organizer who has never even managed a Burger King. We are in financial trouble, we need a financial advisor not a welfare giver or our community organized. People wake up... if the rich do not make money in America there will be no jobs for America.
Obama go organize some files in some community preferably far away and play golf with your racist pastor.
    How's that for more flexibilty?

From January 2001-January 2007 Republicans were in complete charge of the government. During that time we were hit with the worst terrorist attack on American soil, engaged in two wars that were not paid for, and suffered the worst economic meltdown with zero (net) job creation since the Great Depression and Republicans call Obama a failure?

Perry invokes the Republican version of God; i.e., this is the God who hates gay people (why then does He keep sending us gay people?), thinks women should be subservient to men, that will reward church-going folk with monetary rewards, that the poor deserve what they get, that disdains universal health coverage. You get the idea. It is truely funny that Republicans think God is a Republican.
