Ayotte: I’m more qualified than Obama

(CNN) - Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, eyed as a possible running-mate pick for Mitt Romney, said on Sunday she was more qualified than Barack Obama was in 2008.

“I have, some would say, better experience than Barack Obama had when he was a senator, having been the chief law enforcement officer of my state, (then) to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee,” Ayotte said on NBC’s “Meet The Press.”

Before winning her Senate seat in 2010, Ayotte served as the state’s attorney general for five years. She was a major surrogate for Romney on the campaign trail and has appeared with the former Massachusetts governor at several events during the primary season.

Ayotte said Sunday she was “honored” to be mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate, but asserted her “focus is on serving New Hampshire.” She pointed instead to other potential contenders, namely Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

“There are so many good candidates,” she said.

When looking for a running mate, Ayotte added that Romney should consider not only the person’s geographic background, but their “qualifications and knowledge of the issues.”

Last week, former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu, a Romney supporter, said Ayotte is a "strong candidate" but argued the fact that both she and Romney are from the Northeast could be a disadvantage.

Wasn't the GOPTEA birther's litmus test executive experience? For which you have none. I love how the birthers keep moving the bar to justify their positions.

There is always room for one more fool on the GOP ticket. She may be more qualified than Mittens, but President Obama exceeded her experience at the state and national level. All in all, it was demeaning on her part, and that will make a right wingnut happy.

No you're not. Your ego tells you that you are qualified, but you're not. You're a republican, with no feeling, soul, and you are clueless to the needs of people. You're a republican dressed as a person, not a person dressed as a republican. There's a difference.

She is more qualified to bring back the bush policies. The repubs mantra that government doesn't create jobs, private sector does. Obama has set up the private enterprises to be the most successful in history, they have nearly 2 trillion dollars out of the economy, on the sidelines not doing nothing to help this country, yet they refuse to hire Americans. They are hiring robots, computer systems and Chinese workers, instead of American labor. They are saying Chinese workers labor is 5 times cheaper, and since they are about making money, they are willing to go there in the blink of an eye. Obama has stopped this bleeding by pushing money to the spenders, which gives big corporations no choice but to stay here and pay the higher wages, even international companies are coming to our shores now. The repubs want to go back to the bush days of destroying our consumers and running companies back to China like what happened during the bush administration.

Maybe, but it is not 2008. How many years of experience do you have as president in 2012?

So why isn't she running for the office if she is so much better? what are her positions on what is going on in Washington? Or does she just shoot off her mouth with no real solutuons like the other Republican candidates? I am so tired of these candidates just campaigning on "I'm not him so vote for me" platform. Give me something solid in your ideas.

Not a chance. Rmoney has others still to "test-drive." Not that it'll make any difference, since he remains an atrocious candidate.

just another delusional right wing nut who thinks she knows better than Obama. Easy to say, hard to actually execute. And she is from New Hampshire, the 'live free or die' state. Nice state to visit. But not one in which you can really cut your teeth on foreign policy or anything else.

Ayotte presumption that she is more qualified than Obama is pure demagoguery. No one who has seriously studied President Obama deliberating his Presidential decision can be anything less than impressed with his courage and his determination to advance what is in the best interest of the American people. Ayotte presumption that she is indeed presidential is laughable. Other that mouthing the retread attack pieces of a reactionary Republican Party that seeks to establish a plutocracy in America, Ayotte has nothing to offer. Ayotte and the Republican Party do have the ability of to fool some of the people some of the time. I’m just not sure that all of the people are focused enough to recognize the destructive principle of the modern Republican Party and their goal of concentrating power and wealth into the hand of the few.

Doesn't matter much right now what President Obama's credentials were in 08, what they are now is that he is the only candidate with experience at being President of the United States and he has started to dig us out of the hole that the GOP put us into. Who do I trust? President Obama all the way.

What this woman fails to understand is one simple thing....Americans don't actually care if the Presidential candidate is qualified to be President. If people cared, Obama would NEVER have had a chance. People vote blindly for the left or right, depending on what they think they will get out of it....the actuall abilities of the candidates are rather irrelevant to the issue.

As Americans, we have exactly the corrupt, incompetent government we deserve because we, as a society, can't get our sh!t together long enough to elect people who will put the good of the country over their individual careers or paths to wealth. We don't elect people with Nobel Prizes in economics...we elect people who are given Nobel prizes for Peace who have don't absolutely nothing to earn it except promise to be different from the last guy (which, by the way, is completely a joke because when it comes to Obama's foreign policy, he's just GWB's third term in office)

We don't care whether the people we elect can even balance their own checkbooks yet with give them the Treasure of the United States to manage...because we're pretty much id!ots when it comes to picking our leaders any more. We elect criminals and deadbeats...just because they are the only "red" or "blue" option.

The problem is not with our government being corrupted...the problem is with US being corrupted.
