Bachmann a Swiss citizen?
(CNN) - Proud American citizen Michele Bachmann now has another country to call home: Switzerland.
The Minnesota congresswoman and former GOP presidential candidate was granted dual citizenship with the European country, her spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday night.

"Congresswoman Bachmann's husband is of Swiss descent so she has been eligible for dual-citizenship since they got married in 1978," Becky Rogness said in a statement. "However, recently some of their children wanted to exercise their eligibility for dual-citizenship so they went through the process as a family."
While her husband has Swiss heritage, Bachmann wrote in her 2011 memoir that her ancestors hail from Norway (her great-great-great grandfather emigrated from the country). Her mother sang Norweigen folk songs to her as a child, she wrote, and she studied the language in college but "never had time really to gain proficiency."
Bachmann, who's running for a fourth term in the House, joins millions of Americans with dual citizenship.
According to the State Department, dual nationals "owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country" and "are required to obey the laws of both countries."
But could her new, by-marriage Swiss pride conflict with her own Norwegian roots?
Perhaps she'll stay neutral on that debate.

Hope she moves to her new country
Dual nationals owe allegiance to both countries? That's idiotic. When I proudly became an American I gladly renounce any allegiance to the country of my birth. What if we go to war with Mexico or Israel?
Great news! Can we contribute to some fund to help buy her ticket? She may have a little trouble with their "socialism" and I hope she tells them about their problems of great health care, high standard of living, terrific educational opportunities, etc.
So, did she marry Marcus so that he could stay in the US? Are any of her children anchor babies?
No real American would claim dual citizenship. She's palling around with european socialists.

She can now finally be proud to be a Swiss.... and go wreak havoc on that country.
Oh this is rich...and IF Bachmann was truely in love with America she would not lower our flag to have citizenship in another country. Maybe she has bank accounts there.
Did she do her homework? Switzerland allows same sex partnerships with many of the same rights as married heterosexual couples. They also have compulsory health insurance (that's means mandatory, Michelle, as in no choice). Either she thinks God is telling her to go and fix the errors of their ways, or she and Marcus are being business savvy and plan to open new "Pray away the Gay" clinics for those misguided and sinful Swiss.
So much for America first, last and always. Now that she's making a few bucks, she's setting up her tax dodge. Typical.
As a dual citizen, does that mean her overseas bank account is not a foreign investment because she is a citizen of that country?
How soon can she move? It can't be soon enough, poor Switzerland.
Now the Swiss are stuck with her, too. I hope this does not create an international incident.

A person who runs for public office should not be allowed to hold dual citizenship. She claims to be proud to be America and calls Democrats as unamerican, but this action of hers to get dual-citizenship shows that she is one of the most unamerican politician in America. No one can be true faithfull to two countries at the same time. If that was ever possible then America should allow dual citizenship with every country on this plant and why limit with just dual citizenship why not more than four/six/eight?
So she is not proud to be American else why would she take dual citizenship.
Can you have duel citizenship and be a member of congress at the same time?
