Clinton addresses 'au naturale' moment

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton laughed off the perpetual conversation over her appearance that landed in the spotlight once again Monday when a picture of her sporting glasses sans make-up made the rounds on the internet.

"I feel so relieved to be at the stage I'm at in my life right now," the secretary of state told CNN Foreign Affairs Correspondent Jill Dougherty in an interview. "Because you know if I want to wear my glasses I'm wearing my glasses. If I want to wear my hair back I'm pulling my hair back. You know at some point it's just not something that deserves a lot of time and attention."

"And if others want to worry about it, I let them do the worrying for a change," Clinton added.

Clinton appeared without makeup, except lipstick, wearing thick rimmed glasses during a recent news conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh as part of a trip to promote democracy abroad.

The image of the former New York senator with longer hair landed on The Drudge Report with the caption "Hillary Au Naturale." Clinton appeared throughout her presidential bid in 2008 with short hair and pants suits, often the subject of ridicule. Since assuming her top state department post, Clinton has varied her wardrobe and her light locks now hit at her shoulders.

she is pathetic as a human being, as a matter of fact I don't look at her as a human being, she is an animal beast looking to devour everyone , God will take her wicked life , and you can count on that.

There's really no need for makeup and a hairdo when you are fixing to jump ship, knowing that it's headed for the bottom.

It's what's inside the skull that counts, not how much goop you pile on your face. That's all fake anyway.

geez, I gave up make-up in high school. Make-up is so 70's. And I wear glasses too. I'm so glad I'm a trendsetter now. 🙂

so funny I saw her look WORSE when she was suppose to have had make-up on..LOL.. No one wears a lot of make anymore unless they are going out for the evening.. as for glasses well they are OK but I prefer contacts when I am in the garden.. glasses steam up..slide off your face if you sweat.. etc..

I think she looks just fine with or without makeup. It kind of makes her seem more real to have a few pictures as just herself. She is doing an awesome job as Secretary of State and I hope she runs in 2016 for president.

The woman is my age.. And no amount of makeup or surgery is going to do a thing to make her look 'younger'.. And that would be the only objective.. And what is wrong with a woman being her age and not trying to be anything but her age..?
This woman has accomplished more than most women ever have ..And looks her age.. Acts her age.. And isn't intimidated by the pressure to try to try to look young while doing all the incredible things she does..
We have come to a point where older women instead of look old, opt for looking like weird caricatures ..
That is what people should be shocked about.
Not a woman in her 60's who is well dressed, smart, accomplished and not wearing any makeup...~!!
We should be discussing the damage women do to themselves in this quest to try to look young.. Because ending up looking freaky is not a good trade off.~!

This is typical of this administration, the lack of poise and professionalism. I also don't think our Secretary of State should be out at a bar in Columbia partying on our dime either. We are doomed as a nation if President Obama gets reelected this November. It's bad enough that he has been one of the worst presidents in our nation's history, it's another that we have a Secretary of State who is an embarrassment in representing the interests of our country to other nations around the world. Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm not exactly thrilled about having Mitt Romney be the Republican nominee. Glitz and glamor and a gallon of shellac. I'm not too fond of someone who skirts paying taxes by putting his money in offshore bank accounts. If you love the Cayman Islands so much, go and live there and use their ATM's, not ours!

Just a week ago, I was thinking that if I were a politician, I wouldn't wear make-up (because I don't now.) I also questioned what the public's reaction would be.
I was so happy when news first popped up that Hillary Clinton wasn't wearing make-up!

Makes her look old and tired. Stepford wife.

She actually looks better with no make up, more real. Make up makes her look tired and trying too hard. I wear no mascara myself because it makes my eyes go red with irritation. What is the big deal?

Am I the only man out there who cares more about the mentality of our government officials over their looks? This is non news! Who CARES!! Most people with EYES are still blind! Superficial Americans dumb enough to worry about how Clinton looks! I am glad that Clinton is a secure woman and I wish America Had all SECURE WOMEN that wouldn't fall for the superficial world that has been designed for her by MEN!

She wsill make a fantastic president to follow Obama's second term. GO Hillary!

Not a big fan of her politics but I admire her intelligence and guts. She is right about this. While I would still not have voted for a democrat she would have been a better president then what we have now.

I don't care what she looks like.

Madeline Albright was not exactly model quality but she was also a fabulous Sect of State. And if we are going on looks –mittens is the GQ plastic doll, but Obama runs rings around him on every single thing that actually matters.

Do not agree with Hillary on many of her political stands. I do think the country would be in better shape if she were President instead of obama.

    Personally – you go girl!

Beauty is as beauty does; ugly goes clear to the bone. Beauty will soon fade away, but ugly will hold its own.
