Federal inmate's sizable West Virginia presidential vote tally

(CNN) – An incarcerated 53-year-old man is beating President Barack Obama in eight West Virginia counties following the state's Democratic Presidential Primary Tuesday, according to the latest figures from the West Virginia secretary of state.

Keith Judd, who is currently serving a 210-month sentence at a correctional facility in Texarkana, Texas for extortion, is trailing the president 42.28% to 57.72% in the state based on the unofficial vote totals, but is leading in eight counties.

Judd only needs 15% of the vote to qualify for at least one delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina this summer, according to The Charleston Gazette. His expected release date is June 24, 2013, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Obama has not had electoral success in West Virginia, a reliably red state in presidential politics. He was crushed by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton in the state's Democratic presidential primary in May 2008 by a 67% to 26% margin. And he lost the state to Sen. John McCain, the then-Republican presidential nominee, 56% to 43% in the November 2008 general election.

The Mountain State's Democratic Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and junior Sen. Joe Manchin have also recently distanced themselves from the president ahead of their 2012 elections.

In Tuesday's election, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney received nearly 70% of the vote, according to the latest unofficial figures, while former candidate Rick Santorum garnered over 12% support and Rep. Ron Paul captured just over 11% of the vote.

This just shows how many people hate Obama and his policies. Obama and Romney are running practically dead even in the polls and Romney hasn't even chose his VP at this time. After he chooses his VP running mate his numbers in the polls will sky rocket. At this time during an election year the incumbant should have a huge lead in the polls, which means Obama's chances at relection are slim to none. He is absolutely the worst president this country has ever had or ever will have. One and out for Obama....Romney in 2012.

@Obama 2012 – BEND Forward America, take another 4 long years of FAILURE

I never thought I would agree with you but I agree with the first half of your statement. If they vote for a felon they probably can't be counted on to vote for Obama when it really counts. That said the rest of your comment was your typical garbage. Have a nice day.

@Romney 2012 – BEND over America, and elect another republican't loser

You republican'ts must remember the pattern. 8 to 12 years of republican'ts policy takes at least 8 years for the Democratic President to solve. If you give us more time, we will even make America better before you turn it around and drive it off a cliff again. In fact, if you would stop electing republican'ts altogether, heck we might inhabit other planets where you could drill all the oil you wanted and dig coal until your teeth turned black. It is you guys who keep holding us back... I don't know why you insist on blaming everything on Obama.

"Obama is ht ebiggest con artist and liar to ever occupy the Oval Office."

Actually, that was his predecessor Bush. He did a masterful job of convincing us to sacrifice 5,000 American lives for WMD's that never existed.

Ol' Yeller - It is not Obama's fault that WV is a one trick pony state when it comes to their economy and they rely so heavily on coal
Yeah, it's not Obama's fault at all especially since he said he was going to do it when he ran. That's what you get for powering our power plants, factories, railroads, etc. for decades by risking your lives every day to provide for your country and familiy.

Obama and his faceless appointed bureaucrat has decided that all of you and your families are expendable so you all need to just starve and go away because the Democrat Party says it is the right thing to do for the country.

Besides, the country really doesn't need that dirty 200 year supply of coal to power the country and keep our homes warm. We can totally rely on windmills, solar panels from China and algae. The Messiah has said it is so. Who are you or we to say differently?

Contrary to popular belief, those who make the most noise noise complaining about Federal spending and the programs said spending support, are in fact the same people who collect those Federal dollars and who coincidentally don’t want to give up the programs.

States receiving the most federal funding per tax dollar paid: (demographics are from 2010)

    1. New Mexico: $2.63 (white: 40.5%, Latino:46.3% Black: 1.7%) (College degree: 27%)
    2. West Virginia: $2.57 (white:93.2% Latino: 1.2% Black: 6.2%) (College degree: 17%)
    3. Mississippi: $2.47 (white:58% latino:2.7% Black:36.9% ) (College degree: 19.6%)
    4. District of Colombia: $2.41 (white:34.8% Latino:9.1% Black:50% ) (College degree: 48.5%)
    5. Hawaii: $2.38 (white: 22.7% Latino:8.9% Black:1.5% Hawain:69% ) (College degree: 29%)
    6. Alabama: $2.03 (white: 67% Latino:3.9% Black:26%) (College degree: 22%)
    7. Alaska: $1.93 (white:64.1% Latino:5.5% Black:3.1) (College degree: 26%)
    8. Montana: $1.92 (white:87.8% Latino:4.7% Black:0.4%) (College degree: 27%)
    9. South Carolina: $1.92 (white:64.1% Latino:5.1% Black:27.7%) (College degree: 24%)
    10. Maine: $1.78 (white:94.4% Latino:1.3% Black:1.1%) (College degree: 27%)

    For comparison, I added CA

    CA: $0.78 (white:40.1% Latino:37.6% Black:5.8% Asian:12.8%) (College degree: 30%)

Note, the website lists them as White, Latino and Black and they are not my terms.

"This just shows how many people hate Obama and his policies."
No, this shows you how many racists there are in West Virginia too stupid to realize the fat-cats controlling the Republican Party have absolutely no intention of supporting the real issues critical to the working class. Do you think they'll care about Social Security, Medicare or the shrinking middle-class? Coal miners have way more in common with the Democrats than the Republicans – the coal bosses are Republicans.

"The Democratic Party has forced out all moderate/sane blue dog Democrats–and only the leftist loons/socialists remain."

Yeah, right. The Democratic Party wants to invest in OUR country, in OUR infrastructure, in OUR education, in OUR future. If you consider that insane, and prefer the GOP's funneling of money to the top 1% who are investing it all overseas and couldn't care less about us, then THAT is insanity.

Not surprised, I lived in WV during the late 80s early 90s and through back then it was mostly Democrat, it's also very racist there too... Not sure when it turned Republican though, since most West Virginia residents thought Reagan destroyed their lives back in when I lived there.
Weird how things change, I can't imagine why West Virginians would all turn Republican. That goes against so much of what they believe in.

@Byteme: "The hatred of our President is endless"

By ignorant racists everywhere. I just don't see how you can argue with President Obama's successes in keeping our country from going into a Great Depression; for getting us out of Iraq; for eliminating Osama bin Laden; for rescuing the auto industry and all the supply-chain jobs that would have vanished if he'd left it go under.

You are either a total numbskull or just another Repub who can't handle dealing with the FACT that all of your party's economic, military and foreign policies are PROVEN FAILURES.

A well known characteristic of the Democrat/Progessive Borg Party.... if you are not part of the Democrat/Progessive Borg Party collective and assimilated properly you must be terminated as the collective cannot tolerate or permit individual behavior or thought patterns. Just ask Joe Liebermann.

The people of West Virginia have been the first STATE to experience the wrath of the leftists. I'm sure they have many more in their sights when they can "be more flexible".

I'm sorry what is the difference between Bush and Obama? I always hear Obama-backers accuse Bush this or bush that, but in reality has anything really changed since Obama took office, Medicare is still being drained from here to kingdom come, uh we're still in a global war against muslim extremists, both love to bail out big corporations.. Exactly what the hell has changed lol, or do liberals just defend obama simply because "he's another type of person"

Those attempting to relate this to any national trends need to take off the blinders. WV did not vote for Obama in the last election, and for obvious reasons. These folks would rather vote in a known liar, thief, rapist, communist, white person than anyone of color regardless of their character. WV has never elected a black congressman.

to sophieh4: Seriously? We didn't vote for Obama so we're ignorant hicks? Boy, you must be surprised we have the internet to read your ignorant comment. Do you even know where West Virginia is? You probably think Richmond's part of our state too. We made a statement. I would have voted for anyone but Obama. I had the option of leaving the space blank but what kind of point would that make? Let me guess...you would have voted for Obama whether you loved him or hated him...right? That's what you're comment is saying to me...yes I can read...I even have shoes.

Last night I watched Mitt take credit for the recovery of the Detroit auto industry. He also took credit for their bailout which puzzled even many conservatives. This may be a close race but in the end there will be some conservatives who will not be able to bring themselves to vote for Mitt. John Kerry was portrayed as a waffler. Just imagine how Mitt will be portrayed. His photo will be in every window of every waffle house. He is truely a man that will say anything to try and get elected.
