(CNN) - Two senior administration officials said Thursday that Vice President Joe Biden met with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office Wednesday morning and apologized for putting Obama in a tough position.
The president responded to the apology by saying that he knew Biden was speaking from the heart, the officials said.
A spokeswoman for the vice president, Kendra Barkoff, also issued a statement Thursday: "The President has been the leader on this issue from day one. And the Vice President never intended to distract from that."

Obama and Biden should apologized to GOD and the World but they wont because they have no shame
So, he jumped the gun... I can see that happening with Biden's mouth.
This is between the two of them. Stop with all the apologizing and get on with running the country.
Appologize? For what? Publicly announcing the President's drive for equality is nothing to be sorry about Joe.
I like obama, and i voted for him, but i disagree with him for supporting gay marriages. that is abomination; there is great punishment for that sin. marriage is between a man and a woman period
The President and the Vice President are not like the entire Republican Congress.... They have their own minds and their own thoughts and do not take oaths to forsake their personal convictions. They are leaders and not lap-dogs to the stongest political voices.
They may not see eye to eye but I think they make a great team. Shame Biden can't say what he really thinks about the GOP in the senate and the house.
how was he a leader in this issue since day 1 when he was against it before he was president during the election? gotta love the media
Biden has a history of going off message. Come November this won't be as big of an issue as it is now.
