Bristol Palin: Too much 'Glee' in Obama decision

(CNN) – President Barack Obama's endorsement Wednesday of same-sex marriage didn't please Bristol Palin. The daughter of former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took to her blog Thursday to slam the president for taking political cues from his two daughters, who she suggested were watching too much television.

In an ABC News interview, Obama explained how his family helped influence his "evolution" on the issue of marriage, saying his daughters Malia and Sasha have "friends whose parents are same-sex couples."

"It wouldn't dawn on them that somehow their friends' parents would be treated differently," Obama said. "And frankly that's the kind of thing that prompts a change of perspective - not wanting to somehow explain to your child why somebody should be treated differently when it comes to the eyes of the law."

Palin, in her blog post, expressed a different view.

"While it's great to listen to your kids' ideas, there's also a time when dads simply need to be dads," wrote Palin.

She continued, "In this case, it would've been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that's not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview."

Palin bemoaned the fact that Republican women running for office are sometimes quizzed on the role their families will play in their governing, but that Obama isn't pressed on acknowledging the impact his children make in his decision-making.

"So let me get this straight – it's a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it's a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughters?" Palin wondered.

The decision to back same-sex marriage was a missed opportunity for Obama, Palin wrote.

"In this case, it would've been nice if the President would've been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee," Palin wrote, referencing the popular television show about high schoolers.

Let's get this right. Bristol Palin, an unwed mother who's the daughter of an idiot ex-VP candidate, is talking down to Obama and talking about how its SOOOO much better for kids to have two parents of opposite sexes, Do as I say, not as I do.

I'm disappointed that CNN gives this ill-advised and disillusion sudo-celebrity any attention - she wants people to pay attention so the best course of action is to let her ignorance only live in her head.

This young lady is merely a reflection of the poor teachings in public schools about history and a a true daughter of here also badly educated mother. Only by printing this stuff do you keep the Palin family even in the news. Nothing is going to make them relevant.

Bristol should've just held on to that aspirin between her knees. Then someone might be paying attention to her drivel.

God says a marriage is between a woman and a man. Taking marriage vows is making a promise to God. I just don't see how two people of the same sex can take those vows. If they want to be together, that is between them and God to work out...not my place to judge. There are things that can be done, legally, for things like medical decisions and child custody, as well as other issues, but I do believe a marriage is between a man and a woman. It's not really a decision I have to make, because the Bible tells us so.

The daughter of a gallah and a gallah herself making comments about what other people think. Incredible. She should learn how to dance properly

I would not put homosexuality on the same playing field as civil rights of the past. This is a sexual orientation/position choice...far from the lack of freedom of African Americans in the past and the real rights they deserved to be fighting for.
Let gays marry, but don't try to make us feel as we did for them as slavery, or voting rights.

"while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that's not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage."
Yeah, like slavery President Obama. For over 100 years, this country's constitution didn't recognize Black people as full citizens, and there really was no reason for an Amendment to change all those years of thinking that way, give them the right to vote, and allow you to be President. Why change the way we think? And women too. No way should they be more than their husband's property. No way would Bristol Palin want a woman to be able to vote or run for President. Why should society evolve? They're probably lovely people, but we don't need to afford them the same rights as everyone else...

what other sins will the President accept if the perpetrators are nice, kind, loving people? Values need to be built on firm foundations not on shifting sands. Homosexuality, promiscuity, abortion ... are all rebellion against God.

Bristol is so wise. Too bad her parents weren't parenting her while she was out doing the nasty with her boyfriend. Nothing like having a bastard child while your mother is running for VP. Nice touch Bristol – you have made so many great decisions.

Oh wait, she probably has Romnesia – you know, the amnesia where you can't remember specific times of your life and what you did before in your life. Romney can't remember a thing about bullying a gay kid and cutting off his hair while being held down (while ALL of his buddies remember it very specifically) and Bristol can't remember she had a bastard child. But that's OK because her mother has taught her all about life.

"Its like so wrong for a marriage to be between two people of the same sex and stuff. You know, like its ok if its a male dog and a female goat, or for a male elephant and a female person. Yeah that would be cool." Thanks Bristol, as usual. you and your family are right on top of it.

I admire our President for having the intelligence, courage, and mindfulness to evolve in his thinking. Who is this "child" who believes her wisdom exceeds his? I am mystified at her egotism... What has she done in her life to lead anyone to value her opinion? She had a baby as a teenager and plastic surgery to improve her "look". Oh, I know, it was her intellectual experience in Dancing With the Stars!!! I hope in twenty years Bristol can remember the days when she knew everything!

While everyone is entitled to have and express their opinions, there are some who should just keep it to themselves as they really only speak to get attention and then it just brings them criticism as they are simply so obvious. Possibly Bristol can be excused after having been exposed to her mother always doing the same thing.

Bristol may be a drop out, but she is still right on with this criticism. Obama is just using the example of his daughters to try and defray come heat from this flip flop of his ideas. A true evangelical or christian cannot think that same sex marriage is OK. No one on the christian side is preaching hatred, but same sex relationships of a sexual nature are a sin and cannot be condoned. Bristol has a right to her opinion the same as every one else, to say that she is a dropout and the she has a bastard child is just a petty way to try and discredit her personally and to steer away from the real issue by trying to dismiss her opinion.

Too bad your parents weren't paying any attention to raising you properly, they were too busy

If they ban same-sex marriage to preserve the 'sanctity' of marriage, then they should also ban straight divorce. Let's face the facts America – our kids have been hurt a thousand times more by broken homes than any same-sex marriage could do.
