Reno, Nevada (CNN) - It’s not every day the President of the United States shows up on your doorstep. But that was the case for Paul and Val Keller at their Reno, Nevada, home on Friday.
The reason for the president's visit was to highlight problems with mortgage refinancing and to urge Congress to do more to help homeowners. Many families, like the Kellers, are struggling to refinance their home because they owe more than their home is worth. The Kellers purchased their $168,000 home fourteen years ago, yet now it is only worth $100,000.

Republicans don't care. They never have. The Keller's and millions of other people can all move into the streets and bread lines while the corporations own us all and of course they continue to give them their tax cuts.
Please vote these people OUT in November.
Obama 2012
Do nothing congress. He can call them all he wants. They don't pick-up. Only answer for norquist!
It would be great if congress would vote on it.
My house value was 195.000 now it is only 155.000 and my loan still up to 170.000.
Please, Wake up congress.
Why would an older couple need a house that expensive? It's none of my business, but I wouldn't want want all the maintenance.
I guess they put their money where their heart is - in material belongings. God - how big is the eye of that needle?
If there is one thing we have learned in the last 3 years it is that the federal government needs to stay the hell out of the housing industry financing business. When did housing values become the federal government's responsibility!?!? This is political pandering and that's the only reason Obama is jumping it with both feet. Meddling in residential financing is a significant contributor to our nation's $16 trillion worth of debt. But it is an election year so expect Obama to throw tens of billions of debt dollars at it just to try and buy a few votes. Fortunately the House will stand up to this kind of reckless spending.
It was reported on the local news in Conn. that a mother, and her daughter were found dead. They said its a murder suicide. Neighbors said their home was foreclosed on, and they were despondent. How many others have suffered the same fate. With all the foreclosures, the banks have done little of nothing to help, and where has President Obama been? Why haven't we had hearings with Barney Franks and Chris Dodd? Obama the do nothing President. Obama sent billions to Brazil, bailed out bankrupt Solandra, and had time to party and travel, while Americans suffer.
