
Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – Mitt Romney jabbed his Democratic rival Barack Obama Tuesday over the president's complicated relationship with one of his party's leading political dynasties: the Clintons.
The presumptive GOP nominee told an Iowa audience that Obama had ignored former President Bill Clinton's 1996 declaration that "the era of big government is over."

New York (CNNMoney) - House Speaker John Boehner warned Tuesday that he won't permit another increase in the debt ceiling without a larger amount of spending cuts and reforms approved in tandem.
"When the time comes, I will again insist on my simple principle of cuts and reforms greater than the debt limit increase. This is the only avenue I see ... to force the elected leadership of this country to solve our structural fiscal imbalance," Boehner said at a fiscal summit sponsored by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, according to prepared remarks.

Washington (CNN) - Americans are pessimistic about the current state of the economy, but optimistic about what things will look like a year from now, according to a new poll.
A USA Today/Gallup poll released Tuesday also indicates that a majority believe President Barack Obama will beat presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in November's general election.
