Bush to return to White House for ceremony

(CNN) - Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, will return to the White House on May 31 for the hanging of his official portrait, a spokesman for Bush said.

"They are looking forward to seeing a lot of their friends from the administration and they are grateful to the president and first lady for their hospitality," spokesman Freddy Ford said.

Bush has mostly shied from D.C. and the White House since leaving office. He was in town earlier this week for an event highlighting the work of the George W. Bush Presidential Center to promote political freedom.

They should put a paper bag over his head on the portrait so people do not have to be reminded of his incompetence. Bush is the reason the supreme court should not select presidents.

Every one know that Cheney was the president from 2001 – 2008.

Asa tribute to the American people, we some how survived the Bush/republican near depression. If we elect girly man Mittens, we may not be so lucky.

As a person I have always like GW Bush and wish him the best. I think he has shown a lot of class, unlike his former partner Dick Cheney in just staying out of the limelight and although not always agreeing with Obama at least not in public doing so. He said once and I'll never forget that "the president DESERVES my silence" and he has done just that.

Given Abu Ghraib, the Patriot Act and everything else that his administration wrought, "highlighting the work of the George W. Bush Presidential Center to promote political freedom" is quite possibly the most horrifyingly ironic statement I have heard in awhile.

This might be good for late night comedians. That is one thing I miss about the village idiot. There was sooooo much material about this guy.

I wonder if it is the portrait on the aircraft carrier, or the shoe being thrown at him.

What a jerk. It's doubtful this creep knows, or cares about what transpired under his watch. Hell, before you can care, you have to have feelings. Feelings come from having a brain. He has none.

Never heard of anyone willingly attending their own hanging......no ...jests aside, you have to give W credit for not entering the fray of the t-prty idiots and remaining quiet and objective about America.

I really miss GB, he was a very honest and good president. I mean it, a lot of people ranted while he was in office but I don't disagree with anything he did. Obama has already spent more money thatn GB did, so that arguement is BS. The president is just the visible face to the government, every president would basically make the same decisions in the given situations. People are crazy.

Why isn't this guy at the Hague being charged with war crimes ? Take Cheney and his new heart with him. Make an example out of politicians that start war over ego's and oil. Yes the same guy that just gave up or forgot to continue the hunt for the most wanted man on the face of the earth.

They should hang HIM (along with Darth Cheney), instead of his picture, for war crimes against humanity.

It had better be good and appealing or we'd like Bush 41 better.

Bush might be just smart enough to know how much he screwed over the country.
Not sure if he has the moral capacity to show remorse though.
