Ayotte wants to take on Biden

(CNN) - Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, frequently mentioned as a possible running mate for Mitt Romney, floated the idea of debating with Vice President Joe Biden and said she would find the situation "quite enjoyable."

In an interview with the Boston Herald published Tuesday, the junior senator said she "would love" to go head-to-head with Biden on the rising federal debt.

"The vice president does have a way with words," Ayotte joked, according the paper, referring to Biden's reputation for making gaffes on the campaign trail.

Her comments came ahead of the vice president's visit Tuesday to New Hampshire, where he's expected to make a campaign speech on the economy.

"Let's face it, he has got a very different vision of this country than I do," she said. "I think Joe Biden's vision is one of big government. We've seen that that doesn't work."

Ayotte has frequently stumped for Romney this cycle, making several appearances with the candidate prior to her state's January primary. More recently, she introduced Romney at a campaign event in New Hampshire at the end of April.

With strong conservative credentials and a key position in an important state, some political observers speculate she could be on the candidate's list of possible running mates.

Her biggest disadvantage, former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu argued, is geography. Because she and Romney are from both from the northeast, she may not offer as much appeal to bigger swing states, the Romney surrogate told reporters last month.

While many potential VP contenders often attempt to push back on running mate talk, Ayotte's comments are the latest in a string of remarks signaling she may be eying the gig.

Earlier this month, she made headlines when she said in a television interview that she had "better experience" than Obama did during his 2008 run for president.

And in the Herald interview this week, she admitted she liked one of the paper's headlines earlier this year that named her as a potential running mate choice. She said her "family purchased multiple copies" of the paper.

Republican economics gave us our first great depression in the 1920's, and almost gave us a second one in 2008. It would be fun to have Joe point out how we got a national debt of $12 trillion with trickle down economics, unfunded unnecessary wars, unfunded drug programs, unfunded TARP, and tax cuts for the wealthy with no revenue to off set the loss.

Actually, it was working pretty well until the GOP and Dubya diverted all of its revenue to the rich, two unfunded wars and an unfunded Medicare expansion. The argument that "big government doesn't work and the past few years prove it" is technicallyk correct, however. You see, nothing says "big government" like 2 unfunded wars and big business, the financial industry, bank and the rich buying themselves massive tax cuts, subsidies and bailouts.

But hey, you wanna debate that and the fact taht the blame lies with the GOP, not Medicare and SS, Ayotte?? I'd be glad to. I get to say all sorts of things that Biden wouldn't be allowed to.

The current clown show of republicans will make Bush's job loss of 8 million in 3 years, small by comparison to what they will do if we turn the white house over to them this year.

Try it, Biden will stand up to anyone!!! Biden beat down Palin 2008, and he can beat down anyone, man or woman. His folksy style is very American, with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom.

Ms. Ayatollah, thank Dubya for this out of control debt. You republicans must have collective amnesia when it comes to history and what got us in this mess in the first place. Does 2000-2008 ring a bell? Does "UNFUNDED" wars, a prescription drug plan and tax cuts come to mind when you mention the deficit Ms. Ayatollah???

Yeah right Ayoute, your vision is to give more tax break for millionaires, billionaires and cut vital social programs for the vulnerable poors, seniors, kids, students, women and middle class in general. I prefer Biden's vision of big government if this would make sure that everybody get a shot and not only few 1%. Another clueless Sarah Palin type ignorant.

Republicans will sell your life to private equity companies for their personal profit and you'd better listen up. Paul Ryan's so called budget plan, which Romney endorses, is designed to complete GWB's proposal to sell you to private equities. His plan won't reduce the budget, as he wants to believe, it will increase the budget as private equity holders trade Americans off for profit like livestock. You better listen up.

I think the GOP should have chosen Oprah to be their candidate. Oprah has more money than Mittens, has created far more jobs than the flip flopper, and has a far better understanding of foreign policy than the vulture capitalist.

You would think that the GOPuppets would finally realize that Americans now know that big government isn't the problem – the problem is and always has been GOP government and GOP policies of cut taxes & over spend.
Hiring some one to work for something they claim to hate – no matter how over paid they are – is just stupid.

She doesn't know exactly what his vision is. But, she should know what her vision is. Tell us a bit about your own vision.

  19. The REAL Truth...

LOL – Ayotte appears to be suffering from digesting the same amnesiac revisionist version of history that many other teatards have consumed. It's NOT based on FACT or TRUTH... It's amazing how these two fundamentals are ignored by the Grand Obstructionist Party when spouting their own misrepresentation and distortions. Yet when the other side does it the hypocrites scream about it ??

Before Sen. Kelly Ayotte could debate Biden, Biden will have to remove his foot from his mouth where it seems to be staying a lot these days.

This from a senator who recently, along with Lindsay Graham, wanted to pass a Senate resolution interfering with the negotiations with China concerning the blind Chinese dissident. Ayotte was looking for publicity by wanting the Senate to possibly destroy the work done by Hillary Clinton and others to obtain the release of the dissident. Fortunately, the plan she and Graham devised to embarrass Obama went nowhere and the Chinese dissident is free in the USA.

@Dan – before Sen Ayotte could debate Biden, she should actually be RELEVANT. She's a clueless Freshman Senator from my state – who only made it in because of the 2010 Bagger Blip. She should be ignored unless Romney actually nominates her. If she wants to debate a random Dem Senator – fine – a sitting VP? Get lost!
