Polls: Obama ahead of Romney in Wisconsin

(CNN) - Two new polls released Thursday indicate President Barack Obama is holding a steady advantage in the key swing state of Wisconsin.

The president maintains a 49%-43% advantage over Republican rival Mitt Romney in the Badger State, according to a Norbert College/Wisconsin Public Radio survey.

The six-point margin falls within the poll's sampling error, leaving the two candidates statistically tied. Meanwhile, 7% of registered voters said they were undecided or not sure who they would choose if the election were held today.

A separate poll out Thursday also shows Obama ahead of Romney in Wisconsin. According to a Reason-Rupe survey, 46% of voters said they would re-elect the president, compared to 36% who said they would back Romney.

Six percent said they would vote for Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson, and 10% said they did not know who they would pick.

Obama carried Wisconsin in 2008 by a big margin over Republican nominee John McCain. But the president may face a tough fight in November, as the GOP picked up a governor's seat and two House seats in 2010.

However, the state's Republican governor, Scott Walker, is working to survive a June recall election following last year's ugly fight between the state and labor unions over a bill to curtail collective bargaining rights for public employees.

Both polls showed Walker ahead of the Democratic candidate in the race, Tom Barrett.

The St. Norbert College/Wisconsin Public Radio poll was conducted between May 17 and May 22, with 406 likely voters questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus five percentage points.

The Reason-Rupe poll was conducted between May 14 and May 18, with 609 likely voters questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus four percentage points.

Only if the current administration continues to manipulate the eligible labor workforce numbers. If there were the same number of eligible individuals in the workforce now as there were under Bush or Clinton, the unemployment rate would be over 10%. Use your eyes and brain T.

And here is some good news for Walker supporters. Unions and their wholly owned subsudiary, the Democrat Party, will not be pleased when Walker wins in a few weeks. Can we send them the $20 MILLION bill for their tantrum?

Generally speaking, would you say that things in the state of Wisconsin are going in the right direction, or are they going in the wrong direction?
    Right Direction...........................................................49%
    Wrong Direction ........................................................45%
    Not Sure .....................................................................6%

Logic tells me that if the Republican governor is ahead of the Democrat candidate than those same people will be voting for a Republican president which will put Romney ahead of Obama. So then how can Polls say that Obama is ahead of Romney in Wisconsin???? Mathematics are wrong in this Poll.

I'm sick of these polls but I guess I better get used to them. Everyday until the election we'll be presented with a new one. However, I can't wait until the debates start and Willard HAS to back up his silly talk with intelligent facts and figures. It should make for some real entertainment.

Folks in Wisconsin and other states are very smart. They are witnessing the economy improving slowly but sure. They do not see Romney coming up with new ideas to speed it up. Just only the same policies and same people who crashed it in 2008.

pissst....So does Obama. Heck, Obama loves those fundraisers given by these wealthy Democrats at $40,000.00 per person. Gee, must me nice to be a Democrat that can afford a dinner at a cost of $40,000.00. I say they ALL should "share the wealth" and give that $40,000.00 to a person in need. Why are Democrats so mean and greedy with their money?

Republicans destroyed the job market in Ohio under the GWB administration. Ohioians lost their jobs and pensions and were put in soup lines, it made me cry. As a native of the Great Buckeye State of honest hard working people, I never experienced that because my deceased father as well as others earned an honest living working in the steel mill.

The Kochs have helped Walker generate $27 million for his recall, so out of state money for negative ads must work. However, if the Kochs have to generate $50 million for negative adds against our president in all the battleground states, it will cost them more than $1 billion. That starts cutting into the $26 billion they netted last year.

Poll shows a TIE now. They elected a Republican governor in 2010 and again in a few weeks. Poll shows voters think the STATE is moving in the right direction and the country in the WRONG direction.

    Wanna bet???

Mittens is trying to take credit for our president's successes and is quick to blame Obama for the republican mess that he inherited from the Bush republican near depression. When Mittens says Obama made it worse, he is lying. The loss of 8 million jobs in Bush's last three years is being overcome by the private sector job growth of 4.2 million jobs under Obama. Imagine what could have been accomplished if the republicans had voted to help Americans.
