Video: Rubio calls out Obama as divisive

(CNN) - Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida said in an interview Thursday that President Barack Obama has become more divisive since 2008 and he's the cause of gridlock in Washington.

"This country has major problems. In 2008, irrespective of how you felt about the president's policies, we all hoped he'd be a uniter, he'd unite American politics and allow us to focus on the issues of the day even if we disagreed," Rubio said in an interview with CNN en Español anchor Juan Carlos Lopez.

"That Obama is long gone," Rubio continued. "The Obama that occupies the presidency is one who made the cold political calculation that the only way he can win is by pitting one groups of Americans against another. Convincing one group that their life isn't doing better because another is doing too well. This constant pitting of one group against another is divisive in a way we haven't seen by a president in modern political history."

These GOPers know that they have picked a loser. They at least should have vetted him more to make sure that he was truly conservative. They have poked their finger in their own eyes due to their blatant hatred for people who do not look or think like them. They do nothing but complain and hee and haw. Their base maybe fools but the rest of America is not. We are sick of the buffoons who only care about the party and not the people. @ Attilla the poster you should be thinking that life is suppose to be fair for all people also, since you are such a Christian as you GOPers love to brag about all the while praising the devil. I hope that you are making over a million dollars a year also, otherwise you are screwed. You know that Mittens is telling lies left and right just to be president. November can not get here fast enough. Obama 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rubio won't have a political future, he's on the wrong side of history and that's because he doesn't know and understand the history of his own parents.

That charge is such a crock of bull. the divisiveness comes from the republican primary goal is to frustrate and block everything that could benefit the President and cause him to fail. The president has reached out, offered at times to compromise only to meet solid and total opposition from the republican obstructionists willing to harm the nation rather than work with the President on most anything. . . . even if it was originally an idea put forth by the republicans. . Disgusting behavior and ol Rubio here is being totally dishonest and disingenious which it seems is all the Republicans have to offer.. Shameful, totally shameful.

"Rubio is right. Obama is playing the class warfare game, the race warfare game, even the gender warfare game. The most divisive president ever. The biggest evidence is the comments on these blogs. Both sides full of such vitriol for the other. None on either side coming to any sort of agreement or compromise with the other. My way or the highway."

Rubbish and nonsense. You have NO examples of President Obama doing those things and you didn't post any. And if you knew even the slightest US history you'd realize President Lincoln was the "most divisive President." And lets debunk your false equivalency nonsense too. The majority of posters here on right spew lies and propaganda. Most on the left provide facts. Huge difference there. Same with your phony no one will compromise claim. President Obama offered your GOBP cult 4-1 spending cuts and tax hikes, which your GOBP cult, in defense of their wealthy masters, promptly rejected. We know which party is the party of obstruction. Own it.

"Who could say with a straight face that Obama is not devisive? Only the emotionally-damaged and mentally fragile leftists who live in a world of unicorns and a belief that life is "fair"."

I can say it. And you can't because you provided no examples.

What lies has Romney told...? All I hear him talk about is what he would do in office; future tense, so it is impossible to call them lies (at least yet). I also hear him talk about Obama's failed record. Which is truthful. The only one that I hear telling lies and contorting the truth is Obama. Please be specific so we know what supposed "lies" you are talking about?

Rubio, you conveniently have skirted the real reason for the gridlock. First, McConnell's statement immediately following Obama's swearing in: "Our job as Republicans over the next 4 years is to get Obama out of office". Second, the GOP has set the record for filibusters 370+. Lets not forget the debt ceiling debacle, which the GOP has dusted off again with their latest SPENDING proposal, which is purposely $8B over the previously agreed upon – passable – budget. You and your entire party are a bunch of sinners and a–holes. God will deal with you, whether it's in this lifetime or the next.

I am sorry, but 99-1 is not divisive. 50-50 or 33-33-33 or 25-25-25-25 is divisive. Rubio is speaking for 1% of the people. That one percent probably would not have even voted him in he were in any other state.

Rubio is a liar. How can he honestly say this when the Repubs were holding a meeting the night of the inauguration to figure out how they can make Obama a one term President, when during Obama's first SOTU speech, one of their own called the President a liar, when McConnell openly stated that their only goal was to make Obama a one term President, and that EVERYTHING Obama suggests, even if it was a Repub idea, was meant with obstruction. It truly frightens me to think these people have any chance of getting back in charge.

No doubt about it if tou took the time to listen he is correct. Obama is divisive and more so than any President in my lifetime but we call know the reason is because he cannot run on his record. If Obama has kept upbeat and his promises things might be different but he gave up pretty quick.

If Obama had kept his promises and remained upbeat things might be different but he became negative, divisive and one sided.

How are you enjoying the increase in your retirement/401K, since Obama stopped the bleeding you conservatives created? You really should thank him for that. By the way, why should a middle-class person accept stagnant income while your precious " job creators" ahve seen their incomes increase by leaps and bounds over the last 30 years? Those tax cuts came at the expense of the middle class, idiot.

Well, and to be fair, there's a goodly percentage of that 1% who actually supports Obama's policies and wants to see their own taxes go up, etc. Only part of the 1% is comprised of sociopathic plutocrats.

Rubio is right. The President has no one to blame but himself for the dismal economy so he is running on "Fairness" by attacking the "Rich". He claims Republicans want to take womens "healthcare" away. He attacks Republicans for trying to reduce Govt spending by "Hurting" Seniors, the poor, children, women, minorities etc. This has to be the saddest campaign ever. Nothing positive to run on, no hope for the future.

Nov. 6 can't come fast enough.

Rubio is right, but it's the current Conservative ideology that's wrong. In their opinion, the President is divisive because he wants to use compromise. The current GOP and conservatives believe that they are right all the time, and they have absolutely no reason to compromise, or meet the other side anywhere in between. And it's quite sad and tragic that the GOP has allowed these types of individuals to take over their party. If the DNC can hold the line, and if liberals and independents come out to vote, Obama will be elected to a second term. Conservatives are banking (literally) on that not to happen.
