Poll: Romney favorability rating increases

(CNN) – Mitt Romney received a jump in his favorability rating aided by increased support among female voters, according to a new survey.

The Washington-Post ABC News poll released Wednesday showed 41% of Americans held a positive view of the all-but-certain Republican presidential nominee. Although Romney still trails President Barack Obama's 52%, he experienced a six-point bump from results released just over a month ago.

When broken down by registered voters, Obama and Romney received split results. Forty-nine percent of registered voters saw Obama in a positive light, while 48% did not. When the same group was asked for their opinions of Romney, 44% held a positive view and 44% held a negative one. The new figures were the first time since January that voter attitudes did not shift away from the former Massachusetts governor, according to the poll.

The improving trend mirrored a similar Gallup poll released earlier in May that indicated 50% of Americans polled held a favorable view of Romney, an 11-point jump since February.

Wednesday's figures were helped by momentum among Republican women, 80% of whom said they hold a favorable view of Romney. He received a 59% rating last month.

Although the favorability gap has closed, Romney still failed to generate the same level of enthusiasm among his base as Obama. Nearly six-in-ten Democrats were "strongly favorable" about Obama, while just 35% of Republicans said the same of Romney.

The Washington Post and ABC News polled 1,021 adults via telephone between May 23 and May 27 with a sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

You sound increasingly more ignorant each day.
WiC.....You poor thing. You've been resting your head in the sand way too long with the rest of the weary kool-aid drinkers. Come up for air, come up for sunshine and you'll see that most of Americans don't want four more years of Obama. Even the ones that voted for him the first time around.

Many GOP women are well controlled by their men. Their men like them breeding, obedient, and at home in their rightful places.

"The movement toward Romney among Republican women accounts for all of the presidential contender’s improvement among whites. Big majorities of non-whites — both female and male — continue to express unfavorable views of Romney. (As is typical, few non-whites identify as Republicans.)"

As with the previous Washington Post poll published last week, this one is just as meaningless. Get used to it. We have all summer for Corporate polls to tell us what they want us to think.

"BUT REAL women SMART woman will never vote against their health for a flip flopper romney". Wow, just Wow. "real" women, and "smart" women rely on the President for health care? Have we so lost our independance that we can't plan anything on our own. Should we vote for Obama because he's more likely to recommend more veggies in vending machines too?

  9. Another Huge Obama Failure

It would seem that most or America doesn't realize that both Obama and Romney serve the same master, and it's not the voting public.

They are lying folks. Only the people with Lan Lines are voting. Republicans please give it a rest. You know that your party dislikes Romney so you are trying to keep them interested in this wimp so that they will vote. You gotta make up something about this Robot to make him look like he is winning at something, but not in the polls for president. Maybe winning as dog catcher, but not president.

41% to 52%. I'd say Mr. Romney has a way to go. The truth is members of the Republican and Democratic parties are going to vote party-line. It is the independents who will decide this election. With Mr. Romney's slipping ever rightward, and his embrace of the absolute and astounding stupidity of Birtherism, I'd say the election may well resemble these popularity ratings.
Remember- Friends don't let friends vote GOP!

Mitt says he's using his wife as his adviser on women's issues, but Ann never had to worry about going grocery shopping and having a budget. Ann Romney never had to worry about the cost of a good education for her children. Is there anything in this extremely fortunate woman's life that she has to worry about? If the answer is no, then how can she understand the average mother's struggles. The Romneys have a lake front home in NH, and ocean front home in La Jolla and owns million dollar horses, which she admitted that Mitt has no clue as to how many horses she has. Why,,,because money is not a concern. I wish I had no money problems, but just as I can't relate to what it's like to Mitt Romney, they have no clue what it's like to pay bills and have a couple hundred dollars left over.
