Ballot issues arise after Rangel's apparent primary win

(CNN) - While Rep. Charles Rangel of New York celebrates a major primary victory this week - his toughest challenge in 42 years - the state is stepping in on ballot complaints that could wind up changing the results.

New unofficial numbers released Saturday night by the New York City Board of Elections show Rangel ahead of his main challenger, state Sen. Adriano Espaillat, by only two percentage points - 44% to 42% - with just 802 votes separating them and more than 3,000 votes unaccounted for.

Wolfeboro, New Hampshire (CNN) - For Mitt Romney, even his vacation digs may end up being all about location, location, location.

Just across town from the lakeside vacation home where the presumptive GOP nominee settled into the holiday week with family Saturday, two Romney sons stumped for their dad in this state where a poll showed him running neck-and-neck with the president.

Court ruling pumps up tea partiers - but not their enthusiasm for Romney

(CNN) - Before the ink completely dried on the Supreme Court's landmark decision on the nation's health care law, pundits summed up its political impact: It handed President Barack Obama a huge policy win - but gave Mitt Romney a political battle cry.

The court's affirming of the Affordable Care Act has angered and pumped up conservatives even more to repeal Obamacare. But are they now at full-throttle enthusiasm for a Romney presidency?

Obama encourages support for wildfire victims, firefighters

(CNN) - President Barack Obama advocated for private support of the victims and firefighters affected by and battling wildfires in Colorado in his weekly address, a message taped during his Friday visit to see the efforts and destruction firsthand.

"For those of you who can provide some help, you should get on the online site of the American Red Cross," Obama said from Colorado Springs. "They're very active in this community and you can make your contributions there. We're going to continue to make sure that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Forest Service, our military and National Guard and all the resources that we have available at the federal level are brought to bear in fighting this fire."

Barrasso argues for repeal of health care law

(CNN) - Sen John Barrasso called for repeal of President Barack Obama's health reform law, saying it has failed to solve major issues with the U.S. health system.

"It is a law that is bad for patients, it is bad for the nurses and the doctors who care for those patients, and it's terrible for tax payers," he said in the GOP weekly address.

Romney camp: Immigration comments not a policy shift

(CNN) - Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign said he misstated his views on immigration in an interview published Friday, when he appeared to suggest that higher education and military service were pathways to legal status in the U.S. for young illegal immigrants.

As recently as last week at a conference of Latino elected officials, Romney has named military service, but not education, as a pathway.

Conservative group hits Obama over health care using tax ruling

(CNN) - American Crossroads, which has previously advertised in battleground states and Senate races, on Friday announced a week-long national cable buy focused on the Supreme Court's ruling that President Barack Obama's health reform law includes a new tax.

The court ruled that the fee that individuals who are required to but do not obtain health insurance would pay is constitutional and a tax, prompting a new outcry from Republicans and providing the basis for Crossroads' new advertisement.
