(CNN) - While Rep. Charles Rangel of New York celebrates a major primary victory this week - his toughest challenge in 42 years - the state is stepping in on ballot complaints that could wind up changing the results.
New unofficial numbers released Saturday night by the New York City Board of Elections show Rangel ahead of his main challenger, state Sen. Adriano Espaillat, by only two percentage points - 44% to 42% - with just 802 votes separating them and more than 3,000 votes unaccounted for.

"For those of you who can provide some help, you should get on the online site of the American Red Cross," Obama said from Colorado Springs. "They're very active in this community and you can make your contributions there. We're going to continue to make sure that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Forest Service, our military and National Guard and all the resources that we have available at the federal level are brought to bear in fighting this fire."

(CNN) - Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign said he misstated his views on immigration in an interview published Friday, when he appeared to suggest that higher education and military service were pathways to legal status in the U.S. for young illegal immigrants.
As recently as last week at a conference of Latino elected officials, Romney has named military service, but not education, as a pathway.

(CNN) - American Crossroads, which has previously advertised in battleground states and Senate races, on Friday announced a week-long national cable buy focused on the Supreme Court's ruling that President Barack Obama's health reform law includes a new tax.
The court ruled that the fee that individuals who are required to but do not obtain health insurance would pay is constitutional and a tax, prompting a new outcry from Republicans and providing the basis for Crossroads' new advertisement.
