FIRST ON CNN: Romney intel briefings to start after official nomination
Washington (CNN) - The Obama administration will stick with the election-year tradition of both Democratic and Republican White Houses in offering presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney classified intelligence briefings only after he formally secures his party's nomination at the convention this summer.
"It's a long-standing practice for presidential candidates and select advisors to be provided intelligence briefings following the party's nominating convention," Shawn Turner, the spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, told CNN's Security Clearance. "During the last presidential campaign, all the candidates began receiving briefings in September following the conventions."

Even after these briefings Rmoney will continue to lie and say stupid things. Count on it.
Willard will be stunned to know that the cold war is over, Germany is unified, and it is not right to refer to the Cazech Republic as Czechoslovakia.
We'll send him to Palin's house so he can keep an eye out for Putin's invasion, then again that might be too close to any potential fighting for the chickenhawk.
Maybe after Romney's Intel briefing he'll stop saying stupid things like giving arms to Syria when we don't know who we'd be arming, not unless he plans on sending his five(sons) into war along with your children.
It is also a long standing practice for Republicans to want to break the rules.
He can receive intel briefings but he is not going to become president. He can not lose the governorship and expect to win the presidency. Unless voters just pick him for the sake of picking!
Obama will have to give Mittens a coloring book on national security in order for the flip flopper to understand.
Let us keep that to win it by default is by stopping Paul's winning of the plurality of the delegates. Period.
Will he understand any of it? How many other people would be in the room when it happens?
