Exit polls show tight race in Wisconsin recall race
(CNN) - Wisconsin voters inundated by advertising and door-to-door canvassing began delivering their judgments Tuesday on whether to recall Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican hero for pushing austerity measures that stripped collective bargaining rights from most public unions.
Early exit polling suggests those efforts might have been wasted, as 88% of those responding to poll-takers said they made up their mind on how to vote before the end of April.

Romney wins New Jersey primary, CNN projects
(CNN) - Mitt Romney will win New Jersey's Republican presidential primary Tuesday, CNN projects.
He clinched the GOP presidential nomination last week when he surpassed the 1,144 delegate threshold. However, he remains the presumptive nominee until the party convention in August.
Could Wisconsin end in a recount?
(CNN) - In the final days before Tuesday's Wisconsin recall election, polls showed incumbent Gov. Scott Walker with a thin edge over Democratic challenger Tom Barrett, which begs the question: Could there be a recount?
While recounts are permitted in the Badger State, there is no mandatory recount triggered by a close vote margin, as they have in Florida and other states.
Candidates running for any office may request a recount of their contest. The state will pay for the recount if the margin is less than 0.5% of the total vote. If the margin is greater than that, the candidate may still request the recount but is then responsible to pay for it.
Romney campaign acknowledges investigation into email hacking
(CNN) - Mitt Romney's presidential campaign on Tuesday acknowledged an investigation into the hacking of an old email account which has was identified as belonging to the former governor by documents published by The Wall Street Journal.
"The proper authorities are investigating this crime and we will have no further comment on it," Romney campaign communications director Gail Gitcho said in an e-mailed statement.

Romney demands an Obama jobs plan
Fort Worth, Texas (CNN) – In Texas one week after the state helped him unofficially clinch the GOP nomination, Mitt Romney accused President Barack Obama of putting politics before a plan to create more jobs.
"[W]ith America in crisis, with 23 million people out of work or stopped looking for work, he hasn't put forth a plan to get us working again," Romney said Tuesday. "Now I know we're getting close to an election so he'll come out with one soon, but three and a half years later, we're waiting."

Bill Clinton: Congress will punt on fiscal cliff
(CNNMoney) - Former President Bill Clinton said Tuesday that lawmakers will most likely put off making a set of crucial spending and tax decisions until 2013.
"[Congress] will probably have to put everything off until early next year," Clinton said during an interview with CNBC. "That's probably the best thing to do right now."

(CNN) - Exit polling of voters in the Wisconsin recall election showed a tight contest, with a clear majority of voters having made up their minds well before the final weeks which saw intense campaigning on both sides of the aisle.
Voters were split 52%-48% with Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, taking a slight advantage over Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, a Democrat, the CNN exit polls showed. Asked how they would vote if the presidential election were held today, a 12-point margin emerged. President Barack Obama would have carried the state with 54% to GOP candidate Mitt Romney's 42%.

Senate Republicans block pay equity bill
(CNN) - An election-year Democratic measure designed to ensure that women don't face pay discrimination was blocked Tuesday by Republicans who complained that the bill was politically inspired and would reward trial lawyers at the expense of employers.
The motion, which needed 60 votes to succeed, got only 52, not one from a Republican.
