The website Gawker said Tuesday afternoon that it had received a password to a Hotmail email account which was identified in emails published by the Journal as Romney's, dating to back to his days as governor of Massachusetts.
A post on the website said the account password was emailed to them, and they did not log in to the email account.
Romney has been known to guard his electronic footprint closely, as he and aides purchased work computers on their way out of the governor's office in 2007.

What's he hiding?
Romney is a victim ?
covering his tracks like the crook he is.
Maybe the hacker was looking for all of those documents and emails that were destroyed when R-Money erased and killed all of those computer hard drives when he left office as governor.
Obama 2012 – The Only Trusted Way Forward!
Is this a norm for the exiting Governor to take or purchase computer hard drives? What are they trying to hide?
Strange!
What I cannot really understand is why Romney had was to purchase and take the computers with him when he was leaving the Governor's Mansion in Massachusetts. Doesn't this obviously create some suspicion? Isn't this strange???
The Wall Street Journal is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch was just investigated in the UK for phone and e-mail hacking. This story makes it very hard for the Murdoch clan to claim that phone and e-mail hacking practices didn't permeate their US properties. Newscorp may find Republican politicians are reluctant to protect the FOX News machine when those same politicians are getting their personal accounts hacked.
Anybody trust Mitt?
Mittens purged all files, so I doubt that any off shore account numbers were stolen.
I can't imagine some going to such extreme only to embarrass themselves more, its sad when you don't have anything to run on.
Romneys emails will cost the election
