Rand Paul: Would be 'an honor' to be Romney's VP

(CNN) – A day after endorsing Mitt Romney, Sen. Rand Paul said it would be an honor to run alongside the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

"A year, year and a half ago, I was a physician in a small town," Paul, the junior Republican senator from Kentucky, told CNN's Don Lemon. "And it would be a great honor to be considered as a vice president for the Republican Party. I think that would be something that anybody who said otherwise would not be being truthful."

Paul, who on Thursday came out in support of Romney, said on CNN he had not discussed with the candidate the prospect of joining the GOP ticket.

Paul, a tea party favorite and son of presidential candidate Ron Paul, said his father "has always been my first choice," but that the nominating process favored Romney.

"The nomination is now done and Romney has achieved the amount of delegates necessary to be the nominee," Paul said. "Those are just facts. And I've decided to endorse Romney after meeting with him and talking about a lot of areas that we actually do have common ground on."

His announcement came one day after his father acknowledged he would not become the Republican nominee, despite maintaining for months that he would stay in the fight for the White House.

Ron Paul ended his official campaign events weeks ago, but he's still technically a presidential candidate and will have delegates at the Republican National Convention in August.

CNN's Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

I voted for Ron Paul in the primary and I stand by my vote. I will not vote for Romney or Obama. Like millions of Americans I will not just vote for a pollution just to vote. They have to earn my vote. Neither candidate is good for this country. What is it going to take for us to wake up America?

Even though they don't like WILLARD they will support him too see his chances of winning, where there is a vote for WILLARD there will be 2 votes for President Obama.

I knew it from the beginning that Romney's intention is to be in the White House. It doesn't matter for him how much money it will cost; whether his VP is capable to take over if need be; what he tells people is true or not; whether he will improve the economy or not.

That's nice he would feel so honored. And even nicer he's supporting the last candidate standing for the Republican's.
Surprisingly enough, he had a few more weeks before he HAD to make this endorsement. He probably didn't want to say it during Willard's acceptance speech!

Rand Paul's racist remarks worked to win him Senator of Kentucky but it won't work to win VP or President. There's a price to pay Mr. Paul because we will never forget, even though you've forgotten.

Oh good God, Romney alone would be a disaster for this country but to even think that Rand Paul could be VP is totally loony. I am losing my faith in the American people slowly but surely.

  13. Romney is not My Hero

Is this a new stategy from Ron Paul? Send in his son to try and play second to DemWit Mitt in order to get his agenda through. Sorry, Ron, not going to work. He can't stand anyone he can't pay for.

And I've decided to endorse Romney after meeting with him and talking about a lot of areas that we actually do have common ground on."

    Such as:

Repealing the Civil Rights Act #1
    Infilitrating a government takeover for TP bigots #2;
Deporting ALL minorities who refuse to take lower paying or back breaking jobs #3; and
Deregulating Wall Street so rich white men and feel powerful again #4.

Did I cover them all the areas?

Both you and Willard would be too dangerous to ever be in charge of the American people and if people are so convinced you would be "right" for this country then I hope this country gets what it deserves.

    God Bless America
