Fund-raising frenzy for Obama and Romney

(CNN) - The battle for big bucks kicks into high gear Tuesday as campaigning takes a backseat to fund-raising for President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

The president could raise at least $3.6 million at six fundraisers he's attending in Maryland and Pennsylvania. According to a campaign official, Obama is the main attraction at an event in Owings Mills, Maryland, followed by two more in Baltimore. The president then makes the very short hop from Baltimore to Philadelphia, where he's the center of attention at three fundraisers at the Franklin Institute.

All proceeds from the event to go the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of the Obama re-election campaign, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

After holding a campaign event in Orlando, Florida, Romney will be the main attraction at a couple of fund-raisers. According to a campaign official, 150 tickets have been sold for a photo reception, general reception and a private luncheon, with ticket prices ranging from $2,500 to $50,000. The presumptive Republican nominee then heads to Franklin, Tennessee for another fundraiser.

Romney raised around $3 million at a couple of high dollar events Monday evening in Atlanta.

While Obama held the early edge in the race for campaign cash, Romney outraised the president last month. The Romney campaign reports it and the Republican National Committee raised a combined $76.8 million in May, compared to the more than $60 million the Obama campaign says it and the Democratic National Committee brought in last month.

Then-Sen. Obama broke all records in raising around $750 million in the 2008 cycle, more than tripling the money brought in by Sen. John McCain, the GOP presidential nominee. But it should be a much more even money race this time around, especially when you factor in the independent super PACs (Republican groups are out-raising their Democratic counterparts), which didn't exist four years ago.

It absolutely amazes me the contortions these right wingaling tea-a-tards go through to side with a pathological liar like Mitt Robme. Often we've heard, he's not a real republi-can't but he is. Think about this...the biggest liar in political history (Mitt Robme) is hiring back Dubyah's entire staff for his financial advisors. What does Robme think this will produce other than another financial meltdown? How can any person with half a brain think there will be a different outcome than a full-blown depression with bread lines and homeless camps? Robme has been wrong about everything and then lied about it the follow day...Let GM go bankrupt, then it was my idea to save them....Then, let the housing market hit rock bottom and have businesses buy them cheap...then I didn't really mean to let people lose their homes. Next I'm not worried about the very poor....well, I meant that the social safety net would be repaired if need be.

Robme is a LIAR! Period end of sentence. Those who support him need their heads checked and you know who you are.

    Obama/Biden....with no reservations 2012

  2. Obama 2012 - BEND Forward America, take another 4 long years of FAILURE

Wake up people - Is this what this country founded by immigrants is coming to?
The country was founded by explorers and people seeking religious freedom. The country was BUILT by LEGAL immigrants. Our country has now been invaded by millions of ILLEGAL country invaders that have knowingly broken our laws when they crossed our border. I have NO sympathy for law breakers no matter who they are. ANd if they are threatening the rights of our citizens, then they have to go.

I support Romney, Just. I consider myself to be pretty smart and do not need to be overly verbose to make my point. The list of lies, political machinations, backroom deals, using of minority groups and worst of all, bullying, by Obama and his crowd is flabbergasting. Not sure how you can categorize Romney as a pathological liar, but, I guess when you speak in bumper sticker slogans, you need all of the shock value you can get.

Me thinks ole Wulfie was a little shaken by that last LIVE report from a CNN reporter that the last two weeks have been horrible for Obama and the "bottom has fallen out" and they will probably not beat Romney in November with the Supreme Court decision right around the coner. Wulfie almost swallowed his liberal telepromtor in the "Situation Room." Gemme a break!

It is so entertaining reading the desperation in the leftist's posts. They are already making up excuses for an Obama loss in november. They did learn something from Obama though, blame someone else or it is someone else's fault that Obama lost.

  8. stagnant at best

This country is falling apart, all I see in these comments (from those of you who do not even bother reading the article) is cute little name calling, finger pointing and talking points. Worthless use of cyber space. I voted once for the President but he really has no idea how things work, especially an economy. His stimulus approach is a disaster, all I see is the value of my home down, paycheck down, unemployment up, gas up, etc etc etc....this man needs to figure things out quick, he does not earn my vote again

Is this what politics has become?

Each party raising a billion dollars–and for what!

    What a waste!
