Joe Walsh endorses Joe Walsh's opponent

(CNN) - Famed Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh threw his voice behind Democratic House candidate Tammy Duckworth in an Illinois Congressional race on Tuesday.

And who is Duckworth's opponent? Joe Walsh.

But not the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joe Walsh.

Duckworth is challenging incumbent Rep. Joe Walsh, a first-term Republican who represents the state's 8th Congressional District. After being reconfigured in a redistricting process, the district now leans more Democratic than when Walsh last ran in 2010.

But the other Walsh–the one who wooed America with his 1978 solo hit "Life's Been Good"–encouraged voters to turn out for Duckworth this November in his home state of Illinois.

"I'm the real Joe Walsh and I'm proud to back a real American success story – Tammy Duckworth," Walsh said in a statement. "Tammy's story, her service to our nation and her continued commitment to working families (like the one I come from!) have convinced me that she's the right choice for Congress."

The rocker will perform at a concert for Duckworth in July. He's also on tour this year as he promotes his new album, Analog Man.

This marks Duckworth's second run for Congress. The Iraq war veteran made an unsuccessful House bid in 2006, prior to being tapped by President Barack Obama in 2009 to become the Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Tammy is a true American hero and certainly deserves the support of the people in that congressional district. Congressman Walsh has embarrassed them many times and needs to just shut up and go home.

great guitarist doin' "right" on the horrible right. I remember thinking that the real Joe Walsh should stand up against this guy when he won. Here we are two years later, and it's happened. Life is being GOOD TO ME now.
(Hey, let's not forget other great hits......James Gang stuff, etc.(That's THE REAL JOE on the beginning of 40 year old virgin.........."Life of Illusion")

Not surprised the righties on here are blindly supporting Walsh, even though he owes his children over 117K in back child support. Just get Romney to write a check, and maybe she will go away, right? The idea that any real American would support a man who failed in his most important aspects of his life, namely being a father and a husband, over someone who was wounded in the service of her country is appalling, but, this is the warped world the Right has created for us, where they have carte blanche to put some worthless fool like Walsh up for Congress ( actually giving him an award from Tony Perkins' organization for defending the family), then rant about unfair gerrymandering when they have been doing it for years in TX.

These republicans are looking the same. Is this the fiscal responsible republican who finally paid years of back child support who lectures the POTUS on being fiscally responsible?

Obama2012, and the fact that Republicans winning as they did in 2010 and have gerrymandered the heck out of their states doesn't bother you a bit does it? No, I bet it doesn't.

PSA: For those of you who find the Eagles to be over-commercialized and too laid back, check out Joe Walsh's work with the James Gang. That being said, a deadbeat dad (the other Joe Walsh) has no right to call himself a man. Duckworth has my support.

Congressman Walsh is a disgrace. It wouldn't matter if he was a Democrat or Republican. He is a loser. Anyone who whines about child support the way he does has no business in public office.

Tammy Duckworth is a disabled, decorated combat veteran that Walsh accused of not being patriotic enough, Where was draft-dodger Walsh when Duckworth gave to her country?
