Back in the spotlight, Cain invokes rabble-rousing routine

Washington (CNN) - Herman Cain attempted to tap into his artistic side Friday night, opening up his part-comedy routine, part-political speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition conference with a poem about - you guessed it – his “9-9-9” tax plan.

“To heck with the skeptics who don’t have a plan,” Cain said, cheekily reciting one of the lyrics. “Because 9-9-9 has captivated the land.”

Resuming his role as GOP provocateur, the former presidential candidate seemed to revel in the spotlight at the conference, despite facing a less-than-packed auditorium.

Along with waxing poetic, Cain also performed his own rendition of “America the Beautiful” - all before unleashing a series of zings against Democrats.

Cain especially wasted no time going after President Barack Obama. The former pizza executive, who recently announced he would take over Neal Boortz’s radio show in January 2013, said his first date hosting the program will fall on the same day of the presidential inauguration.

“So Neal says, we will either be celebrating in the studio together that Mitt Romney won, or we're gonna write the death certificate of the United States of America,” Cain said. “What are we gonna do? We're gonna celebrate, we’re gonna celebrate taking back this country.”

Cain said electing Romney “is not going to be easy” this November, but maintained it could happen if Republicans convert what he called some of “the stupid people” who side with the Democratic Party.

“We don’t have to convert all of the stupid people. Just some of them. Save the savable,” Cain said.

Among the many charges Cain leveled against the president - many of them recycled from his own presidential stump speeches - Cain accused Obama of attempting to redefine marriage with his recent same-sex marriage endorsement.

“I have an announcement for you: Mr. President, God gets all the votes, and you cannot rewrite the Bible,” he said.

While Cain has yet to publicly appear with Romney on the campaign trail, he said he talks with Romney’s senior staff members on a near-weekly basis to discuss strategy and ways to aid the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

Cain also announced that he has agreed to appear on liberal talk show host Bill Maher’s show, a visit he described as “going into the lion’s den.”

“Remember, I said, ‘save the save-able.’ There might be a few liberals watching the show that we can save,” Cain said to the cheering audience.

Delivering line after line - including his controversial, blunt argument that black voters have a hard time thinking for themselves - Cain frequently reminded his audience of his “unconventional” style.

“You all know I’m telling the truth,” he said. “I just tell it like it is.”

If Romney really expects to win this thing, he needs to lock these kooks in a closet until the second Wednesday in November.

This is the same guy that said "we need a leader, not a reader", who's stupid now? Why is anyone even talking about this guy? Remember the Libya gaffe, yeah.. a once presidential hopeful that wanted to know nothing about the rest of the world....I'm pretty sure that classifies as dumb.

His role as a token is over. His moronic and poorly conceived "9-9-9" concept was simplistic and totally regressive. His Bible-thumping, illogical observations, and rabble-rousing nonsense is good behavior in the crowd he plays to.

Which "stupid" people is he referring to? Maybe he should remember the famous quote: stupid is as stupid does. Seems to fit Cain's continued useless attempt to be famous. The lack of a crowd shows his time is up.

If he is going on an evangelical "suggestion" – is he trying to say all democrats are condemned to an eternity in hell? Or is he just trying to be clever? Seems to me, his time is better spent chasing other women than trying to be a comedian. Or did he forget, he suspended his campaign? Why is he bringing up his old campaign rhetoric? Is he auditioning to try and be VP too and be part of the crazy train?

Was it not Cain who killed Abel. “I have an announcement for you: Mr. President, God gets all the votes, and you cannot rewrite the Bible,” he said. – these fools keep using the Bible to milk the poor of all their resources and claim it is God's work they are doing. What votes will Godod get when he is not running for any office. You should try to understand this quote from the man you claim to reprsent, "My kingdom is not of this world."
