Washington (CNN) - Gay rights activist Kevin Cathcart remembers keenly the day President Barack Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage.
There sat Obama, who for years had frustrated many in the gay community by not supporting same-sex marriage, telling ABC's Robin Roberts that conversations with his daughters and friends led him to change his mind.

One of these days, the GOP will wake up to tthe fact that our country is diverse and becoming more so all the time. Alas, theirs is the party of christian, straight, old white people. At this rate, the GOP is headed for the same destiny as the Whig party – extinction.
whats your point
Obama is President of ALL the people of the United States and not a member of some private club that requires a small mind set of people who decide who can be a member and who can't.
So he has the Gay vote and the Latino vote guaranteed after these 2 genious moves, especially the move of today. Obama knew how to bury Romney. The best thing for Obama's re-election was to agree with same sex marriage which I agree with since I do have gay relatives.
Your recent actions have been a welcome surprise to your progressive base... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Hey, Kevin Cathcart, Obama is using you and others in the gay community for votes and money. He no cares for your cause than he cares for the Latino. It's all about votes and money with this guy. He's thrown out the bait and folks are grabbing it up and stuffing themselves on Obama bait.
anything for a vote, next he'll say if i had a son he would be gay like this
Oh wait I need more votes. I can pretend to be in support of this just like in 2008. After I get your vote, please go away.
Again.
Sure, he needs the votes. Do you really think the timing of the gay marriage and the illegal immigrant announcements are just coincidental? you must be kidding me!
He made the rightdecision
Am I to understand that Obama changed his views on gay marriage after talking to his daughters?.... Hm Very interesting
