Bristol Palin defends mom during reality show premiere

(CNN) – One episode in, Bristol Palin is already delivering the drama.

In her new reality television series, which premiered Tuesday night, the 21-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin found herself in a heated brawl at a Los Angeles bar as she defended her mom against verbal attacks.

The Lifetime program, "Life's a Tripp," follows Bristol as she works as a summer volunteer in L.A. and takes care of her three-year-old son, Tripp.

Bristol, however, is no stranger to TV crews. Her family was the focus of a TLC program, "Sarah Palin's Alaska," and Bristol herself participated in the popular series, "Dancing with the Stars," in which she finished third place.

This time, the new hour-long program places the spotlight entirely on Bristol, who rose to instant fame in 2008 when her mom was tapped as Sen. John McCain's running mate and her family revealed that Bristol, then 17-years-old, was pregnant.

In Tuesday's debut episode, Bristol moves into her friend's L.A. home - in which Bristol takes special note of the numerous bidets - and goes out with a couple of friends to a Western-themed bar.

Drama begins to unfold, however, when her friends convince her to ride a mechanical bull and a man from the crowd shouts out a lewd remark.

"Did you ride Levi like that?" he yelled, referring the father of Bristol's child, Levi Johnston. "Your mother's a whore."

As a fuming Bristol storms over to the man, cameras and lights in tow, she mutters under her breath, "Watch this." She confronts the individual, who appears to have had a few too many drinks, and asks why he made the comments.

The man continues to throw jabs, calling Bristol's mother "the devil" and accusing her of being unable to speak in a "complete sentence."

Bristol, meanwhile, demands a concrete example to back up his claims, at one point asking if he was mad because he was a "homosexual."

"Pretty much," he responds.

The scrum escalates into a profanity match - mostly driven by the man and his friend - and Bristol's group is quickly escorted out of the bar.

Emotionally distraught, Bristol then calls her best friend, Gino, back in Alaska and tearfully retells the incident. She admits she wants to go home.

While strolling in the grocery store the following day with her sister, however, Bristol acknowledges that she's "over it," despite the fact that video from the tiff had already spread on YouTube.

The rest of the episode follows along as Bristol adjusts to Los Angeles and starts her first day of volunteer work with the group, "Help the Children." She also takes the time to have brunch with Mark Ballas, her dancing partner in "Dancing with the Stars."

During their meal, Ballas asks about Bristol's mom and reveals that Sarah occasionally sends him text messages.

"She's so sweet," he adds.

But the episode ends with Bristol again growing distressed when her sister Willow, who seems bored out of her mind, decides to go back to Alaska.

While trying to convince her to stay, Bristol makes the case that she'll have a hard time finding someone else to take care of her toddler son if Willow leaves.

"Our own friends sell stories about us," Bristol says. "You think some random babysitter's not?"

Ultimately, Willow flies back home.

Who's this Bristol person and why is she on tv? Funny I've not heard of her. Did she do something significant?

    Dear Bristol,
We have enough trash here in LA. Please take your circus somewhere else.

Hard working, tax paying, Los Angelinos.

Wait, wait... her sister got bored in LA so flies back to ALASKA?
I guess the only entertainment that family knows is shooting and spying on Russia.

How is it a reality show when every single scene is contrived? Since when were minors allowed into a bar so they can ride a mechanical bull, anyway?

For someone who's angsting over how stressful it is being a single mother, Bristol sure doesn't seem to spend much time with her toddler.

This is more than just a lame and boring display by a grifting daughter of divisive politician. In an attempt construct some sort of interest where there is none, Bristol is painting her son’s father as a deadbeat dad. This is the main theme of this awful un-reality show. Yet, according to the father, he has made numerous attempts to access his son and has been denied his court ordered rights for months. The Palins claim that Levi Johnston has not paid the $20,000 child support makes him a deadbeat dad. Really? This is a guy in his early 20′s, as of yet no GED, and little prospect of maintaining that level of child support. He gained monetarily initially from the Palin exploitation (Playgirl, tabloids) but those opportunities have all dried up, or he is not seeking them (a good thing!). Besides, does anyone really think that Bristol is in dire straights caring for their child? I strongly believe dads should support their children and that Levi needs to go back to court to adjust his payments, but this is no reason to prevent a relationship between a father and his son. Yet, that is what this show and the Lifetime network are supporting. It is a false narrative and abusive, particularly to this adorable little boy. I will not watch this garbage because, to me, this is child abuse.

Recap: Our groomed victim Bristle cries because Willow refuses to baby sit Tripp anymore and now Bristle for the first time in her life has to take care of Tripp all by herself in the Masseys' mansion supposedly without any nannies. Willow told Bristle she's not baby sitting Tripp for free anymore stating, "I'm quitting for the good of Alaska." I believe Bristle is using the Glenn Beck method of crying by using Vicks Vapor Rub in the eyes. She is always scowling. Or whining. Or crying. She acts like she is still in middle school and has to take care of the egg for a week for Health class and got bored after the first hour. Life's A Dripp for Bristle and there goes her future career in running for orifice.

This exact same bar scene story was reported a year ago. I guess they "recreated" it for the reality show. How pathetic of Bristle to allow her mother to be called names again so it can be pass as "reality" t.v. The nut didn't fall far from the tree.

I do not agree with Sarah Palin's politics and how she presents herself. I believe she has done a disservice to her family and to America by spreading lies and taking advantage of the workers in this Country, however, I do not agree with calling anyone's mother a whore. That is just wrong no matter what you believe in. I would have exploded if someone would have called my mother a whore. No child needs to hear that about there mother. It's not her fault that her mother is a liar, uneducated, money grubbing person. Hopefully Bristol will not follow in her mothers footsteps, even though it seems like she has already started too.

What is wrong with all of you people? These are real people and a real family. The Palins have done nothing to any of you. This is still America, and THEY are a true American family. Get over yourselves...

I wish Bristol Palin the best with her new show. Of course, those who ridicule Bristol Plain about her show never say one word negative about the trash that is the Kardashians–a dysfunctional family with promiscuous daughters who make a fortune doing nothing. The same pass is given to the other reality shows that promote insufferable narcissists.

Bristol Palin comes from a great family and her mother Sarah Palin is a superstar. Sarah Palin is dynamic, principled, a loyal American, a great wife and mother, highly competent, and unfortunately not running for president.

Those who defame Bristol and the Palins should look at their own reflections in the mirror, which would show jealousy and most likely a lack of personal integrity as well as a lack of intellect.

Sarah Palin gave that dolt McCain a chance to win given her electrifying speech at the 2008 Repbulican convention. Without her, McCain would have lost by 30 percentage points given how dull and unprincipled he was and still is.

All those who degrade the Palins, I wonder what their great accomplishments in life are? The average Amercian could not find his or her home town on a map and would not know the date of American Independence or other American history. These are the big geniuses who denigrate the Palins because of jealousy.

Now all of you intellectual lightweights, time to return to Survivor or some other trash on TV that you watch in lieu of news or heaven forbid read a book.

    G-D Bless the Palins!
