Obama to allow more Arctic drilling

New York (CNNMoney) - The Obama administration will go ahead with more drilling in Arctic waters, though at a pace that allows for more research before additional permits are granted.

The administration will hold new lease sales for oil companies to drill in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas just north of Alaska, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said Tuesday in a conference call with reporters.

More pandering, more smoke and mirrors. All worthless promises he can reverse if he gets a second term. I'm sure the research will show a dead seal or fish and say drilling caused it.

Why not just drill in Anwar, ON LAND??!!

Do people have a say anymore, or is it just the corporations doing whatever they will? Good grief when are we going to wake up? When it's too late, most likely. Isn't that the way it usually works?

and thank God George Bush issued all those drilling permits so that the oil could be coming on the market right now after years of development.

Obama has cut BACK on issuing drilling permits and that is an energy IED in the road that will explode on a future President AND US. Democrats are famous for this.

He has increased Arctic drilling, he has increased off-shore drilling, he has increased domestic shale oil production. The problem is our refineries cannot keep up with the crude production, so the storage farm business has grown, and we are now exporting more oil than we are importing! Please tell me how the President has restricted our traditional energy business? He has also allowed offshore drilling in areas that Dubya refused to allow more leases – Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas – all areas where the oil companies wanted to increase production and all areas where Dubya wouldn't let them. Could it be that those states with their Republican Governors were more important than California, Oregon and Washington, where he did approve additional leases?
