No criminal prosecution of Holder for contempt

Washington (CNN) - The White House and the Justice Department made clear Friday what had been expected all along: Attorney General Eric Holder will not face criminal prosecution under the contempt of Congress citation passed by the U.S. House.

Legal experts noted this week in the runup to Thursday's House vote that President Barack Obama's assertion of executive privilege in the case would prevent a criminal prosecution under a practice dating to the Reagan administration.

Thats why they cleared authorization for pursuing civil litigation yesterday during the contempt hearing. They can proceed against Holder... Democrats chased Gonzales, Myers, Rove for years so these things happen. Can you imagine what Holder would do to a person that did not comply to one of his subpoenas.

Myviewis – Tell you what, maybe Holder will take one for the team if war criminals Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and Gonzalez serve time for the thousands of US servicemen and women (and the tens of thousands of Iraqi men, women, and children) who were killed or maimed because of Bush's lies and phony war. Deal?

You bet they will not prosecute. If they did that then all the facts would be put on the tabe and repubs would come out with a simple "Nothing to see here folks, move along."
Because there was never anything there to begin with. Another right wing witch hunt to try and get the black guy. These people are pathetic.

Seems like the republicans and blue dog democrats are having a bad week all around maybe they can get back to the business of the people and stop fighting this President.

We sent them to Washington to do a job and they are collecting pay and very good health insurance for doing nothing. Issa and the rest should be embarrassed for their behavior.

Hardly a surprise here. Obama believes he is above the law in any situation. Holder should be considered a criminal in this investigation.

  6. Republican who supports President Obama

Congressional Republicans have wasted more time going after the Presidents and the Dems rather than focusing on job creation. What did the Speaker say after his selection? His focus was to put America back to work. hmmmmm.. where are the job?!!?

Just remember people the republicans are taking us down the tubes. !st our AAA rating, making this a 1 term president, not passing any bills to help the downtrodden, not bills to reform insurance and their pharma buddies, no jobs bill, nothing to help the regular working class. Shame on the republicans, shame on the talking, prosecuting, do nothing republicans. Out of touch, out of step, out of office.

What do you think would happen to any of the rest of us, middle class working Americans, if we were found in contempt of Congress?
