Rupert Murdoch's advice to Romney: Get some pros on your team

(CNN) – Rupert Murdoch offered presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney some unsolicited advice on Twitter Sunday: Lose your friends and hire professionals.

The message wasn't the first time the 81-year-old News Corporation chairman has used Twitter to offer sharp criticism of Romney. Last week he slammed the former Massachusetts governor and two-time presidential candidate for his immigration position.

Murdoch's conglomerate, News Corp., owns media properties across the globe, including the Wall Street Journal and Fox News Channel in the United States. In Britain, his newspaper empire includes The Sun and the Sunday Times. In 2011 and 2012, Murdoch has been embroiled in a scandal involving alleged phone hacking at some of his newspaper holdings.

While some of Murdoch's media titles - including Fox News and the New York Post - carry known conservative leanings editorially, the man himself has been known to support candidates of both parties. In 2006, he was reported to have held a fund-raiser for then-Sen. Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, and in 2008, he called then-candidate Barack Obama a "rock star" and praised his education plan. In 2010, News Corp. gave a $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association.

Murdoch, a native of Australia and a naturalized American citizen, is a regular tweeter, sending several messages per week and responding to his followers when they write to him with questions.

Aside from his candid thoughts on Romney, Murdoch also weighed in on this week's bombshell celebrity headline.

"Scientology back in news. Very weird cult, but big, big money involved with Tom Cruise either number two or three in hierarchy," Murdoch wrote.

Murdoch needs to stay out of American politics and I'd [ersonally prefer he stay out of American business. I dislike having to pay him everytime I watch television, movies or read a newspaper. I would prefer paying Americans instead of foreigners like Mad Rupert. He is mad, you know, believes his own lies.

If "corporations are people, my friend," when is the first reporter going to grow a pair and ask Mittens to name the gender of Bain Capital?

    Follow-up questions:

    1. As a Mormon who believes in "baptism of the dead," can corporations (since they are people) be baptized into the Mormon Church after they've died?

    2. Please explain how this can happen, since corporations can't die.

    3. Please explain how something that cannot die is a person.

There is a grain a truth within the criticism. Romney does need to look to more professional handlers if he wants to make a real impact in this election. Making smarter decisions about whom to align himself with as well wouldn't hurt. There are lmited returns to be had from hanging out with the likes of Donald Trump. He's too devisive a public figure and doesn't bode well with the main group he needs to impact–moderates. In the absence of running a more serious campaign, I don't give him much of a shot in Novenmber. Especially since Obama has had the public relations coup with his health care mandate. I wish him luck and I do like him, but it's going to be rough going for him...

Both are just splashing about on the surface. Mitt lacks substance, depth.

He's what "W" derided often as a mere "politician." The content of an argument means nothing to him- it's all about who says it. Ends up as total oppositional disorder re President.

(Most) all current Repubs need to grow up and remember that "Country First" thing. And fess up when busted.

What Romney needs to get rid of is his many Bush cohorts – I don't mind a GOP President – but a return to Bush era methods and mindset is unacceptable.

This is useful advice, coming from an old flatulent billionaire, one to another. Romney doesn't have the fangs for politics, he does well with business, sure people lost their jobs, but if you ever paid attention to the plot in "Pretty Woman" that is what a lot of businesses do. Sell out their domestic laundry and make billions on the comparative slave labor overseas. Romney is too honest for politics. Yes, honest. He bragged about what he has done to business, not lied about not doing it.

say what you want about rupert murdoch and news corp but the man is not an idiot. romney is going to have to have a lead going into the debates to have any shot at this election, a solid lead. obama is going to eat him up in a live debate. when youve got romney polling at 43% in virginia they are down pretty heavy, as they should be. They better cash those sheldon adelson checks and get to scaring old people to vote against their own interests in a hurry!

After watching Obama falter with so many of his "friends" in his administration, I would tend to agree that in order to win the Presidency this November, Romney needs to have some proven professionals on his team in key positions.

Romney should be able to do better with his organization, he has no other job than to run for President for 8 years and all he has to show are amateur advisors and amateur policies (immigration, defense, health care, taxes, economy). This guy is a very slow learner and bad decision maker (of course he covers all decision alternatives by flip-flopping), he would make a terrible president. One day he would be invading Iran, the next day withdrawing, and the third day he would want to make Iran the 51st state.

Fair is fair, I don't see how what you say is relevant to this article, but they don't even speak "Austrian" in Austria. I bet Obama knows that.

    If you're a mormon:
You believe in a man named Joseph Smith that declared himself a general against the American Government and then said he would create a Theocratic Monarchy with himself at its head.
You also believe in a man named Joseph Smith that married a 14 year old girl – even though he already had plural wives – because he told the child's family they would receive instant eternal salvation if they gave her to him (Smith).
You also believe in becoming a god after this life if you have committed to and followed all of your temple rituals sincerely and without deviance.
You also believe that anyone that is not a mormon will NOT be allow to be with Jesus Christ or God, no matter how good they are, if they do not accept your gospel (religion) to be the only true church. For example. Mother Teresa will not be in heaven if she does not accept a posthumous baptism in the after life.
You also believe that you must take on secret temple names, wear garments (underwear) that has secret symbols that are used in secret rituals in the temple as well as a blood oath that began in 1843, but ended in 1990 when there was a general uproar amongst non-mormons that found out about this particular ritual.
You also believe Blacks and Native Americans were marked with dark skin for being evil in the pre-life or because they just displeased god.
You believe that once you are a god of your own world, you with your heavenly wife will create spirit children that will then fill the earthly bodies of human on your own particular planet that you rule over...meaning that you are already (in certain terms) better than the God that created this planet.
You do believe that Lucifer and Jesus were and are brothers. Sign A TRUE Conservative Republican."

So the Republicans are going to settle on an east coast, elite, millionaire from an aristocratic family? What is his experience that will make him a successful Conservative President?
    1. He fires people, lays off employees, and outsources jobs while pocketing the pension funds of those same employees.
    2. He is comfortable in an upper class setting. After all, America IS the upper class, isn't it? The little people, like you and I, are not really very important. People of Romney's class and background see us as livestock that can understand English.
    3. He does not care if Americans suffer. He has made lots of them suffer so far in his life. He's made of tough stuff. No weepy compassion will ever cloud his judgment.
    4. He knows how to destroy corporations and sell off their assets. He could use those skills to destroy the federal government, a stated goal of Conservatism
    5. After the Romney Administration is over in 2016 or 2018, Conservatives will say, "Hey, you can't blame us for the disastrous Romney Administration. He wasn't a TRUE Conservative. What we need is a TRUE Conservative like Ron Paul or Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum … or maybe govornor Palin."

By pros, he means criminal hackers willing to illegally break into the internal White House computer network to look for dirt on Obama. If Romney doesn't have more integrity than to follow Rupert's suggestion OR example, then he's truly NOT qualified to be president. We shall see.

Rupert Murdoch, who cares what this man thinks? Romney is a shue in. Obama joins Jimmy Carter as one of the five most incompetent presidents in American history. And Obama tops the list as most dangerous president in American history.

A complete red herring. Does anyone really believe the Billionaires for Romney don't have this covered? Much like the hoopla around Mittens VP pick, he will pick who he is told to pick, end of story.

One rich man to another; to win you need the middle class and the poor but without them knowing what is at stake for them. For this you need Carl Rove and the like on your side.
