Bachmann on VP spot: 'Not for me to make that decision'

(CNN) – Former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann did not deny Monday whether she was being vetted for the job of Mitt Romney's running mate.

"Whoever it is that he chooses to bring in as his V.P., it will be a highly competent person who could step in at a moment's notice and assume the responsibilities of the White House," the Minnesota congresswoman said on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."

Pressed further if she was being considered for the gig, Bachmann, whose name has not been frequently mentioned as a potential contender, left it up to the presumptive GOP nominee and his team to make a comment.

"Well, that's something for the campaign to answer on," she said. "That's not for me to make that decision, and that announcement."

While veep-talk has certainly been a swirling force on the campaign trail in recent weeks, Romney has only confirmed his campaign was vetting Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, though many more are expected to be on his list.

The former Massachusetts governor announced he was considering Rubio in mid-June after some Republicans grew upset over a report claiming the senator was not in the running.

Other potential candidates have kept mum on the veepstakes, refusing to say whether or not they may have a hat in the ring.

For her part, Bachmann was critical of Romney when the two competed for the Republican presidential nomination. As a candidate, Bachmann initially ran with large tea party appeal, frequently bucking what she described as the more establishment faction of the party that Romney represented.

The congresswoman did not endorse Romney until early May, several weeks after former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum dropped out of the race, a move that essentially locked up the nomination for Romney.

Asked repeatedly why she had held out in her support for Romney, Bachmann declined to go into specifics but maintained she was working "behind the scenes, bringing together all factions of our party."

That would be fantastic! However, she ruled herself out when she said, "Whoever it is that he chooses to bring in as his V.P., it will be a highly competent person who could step in at a moment's notice and assume the responsibilities of the White House,". So before she started throwing around hints, she states that no way could it be her. Although it would be great, a new lie and laugh every day, oh please please.

Bachman would be a WONDERFUL VEEP as I am sure all Dems would agree. This would definitely hand our POTUS his second term. Would you agree with that Mrs Palin??

Liberals conviently forget to mention the twenty new or higher taxes across-the-board [in ObamaCare] are bad for economic growth, bad for job hiring, bad for investors, and bad for families. A tax is a tax is a tax, according to Judge Roberts. But he forgot to say that if you tax something more, you get less of it.

Now this woudl be tasty.....Palin II. Democrats would love this, another affirmation that even a discussion of putting this idiot on a ticket describes the GOPs thought processes.

Ah yes – one of the twisted sisters (Sarah &Michele) as a VP. The idea would be very funny if Romney had a since of humor. He does'nt so this is scary

Keep dreaming, Bachmann. Mitt hates the tea partiers and has not one single goal in common with them. She's deluding herself. She isn't even going to be reelected in November.

Oh PLEASE, PLEASE Willard.... PLEASE pick Bachmann as your VP candidate. If you think the country polarized over McCain's choice of Palin, you haven't seen anything yet. Palin's a lightweight in crazy department compared to Bachmann. She's Bat Sh!t Crazy.

If you are over 50 years of age, and vote Democratic this fall, you are signing your own death warrant. You've heard it before, but you better believe it, to control costs there will be panels that determine what care you are given. And you better believe that there will be liberals making up the membership of these panels. And who will get the limited funds available for healthcare, every "young" and government dependent person regardless of their contribution to society (think women having their fifth child by the fifth father, druggies, and other young liberal losers).

I think Michele would be an excellent VP choice. Highly intelligent, competent and bipartisan, she is just what the GOP and the country needs.

She's kinda cute. She would make a good running mate for Romney, whose only redeeming value for this country is that he has nice hair.

If you know any conservative from Canada, ask them about their socialized medicine. It's great, as long as you don't get sick. And what do the elderly of Canada hear most often at their doctor's office, "go home and get your affairs in order". Please, study, read, talk, and find out as much as you can about government healthcare, and if you are a senior, you will vote against the Pelosi/Care supporters.

  16. christians unite!

the upcoming election will prove two points.
    (a) that christians are believers according to convenience, and
    (b) that republican christians are republicans first and christians second

Romney is a mormon which is a religion that, as well as co-optingsome parts and characters from the bible word for word, also contradicts and makes a mockery of so many key christian religious beliefs that it should be a bigger issue to christians than gay marriage and abortion. But ... the same way as christians always pick and choose which parts of the bible to loudly proclaim and which parts of the bible to pretend don't exist ... they will ignore all these issues and vote for Romney anyway.

What do you think God/Jesus will think of you if you give your vote to a man who truly believes that he will one day be a God? Or a man who truly believes that Joseph Smith, a 19th century reknowned con-man, is an equal of Jesus?

Go on christans, pretend you never read this post. Find some obscure bible quote that will justify you supporting a cult. What a joke!

First of all,I see the Dems are out attacking a Republican women,in an effort to make it look like Republicans are attacking a women...you forgot to shut off your mike.
Don't take anything I say here as gospel...do your homework. Obama has hidden his collage records by Executive Order,so that we can not judge his lack of skills for the job. Obama has been President for 3 1/2 years, and can not hide his gross mismanagement of our Nation's Economy by Executive Order. Although, Obama does play fast and furious with the Presidential Executive Order (are you reading this judge roberts?). See article :Obamacare- 7 new taxes on Citizens earning less that $250,000". Turns out, now that we have had time to read the over 2000 page law (hellow pelosi), 75% of Obamacare Costs falls on Americans making less than $120,000 (it is a massivemiddle class taax). See article "America On Board For Financial Train Wreck, Economist Warns". Briefly, in year 2013, Obama's economic practices/policies will drive the United States into a state of Economic Depresssion. Then, Democrates, and Republicans will be living in Obama hell.....together, at last. Obama's campaign has websites requesting folks planning marriage, send in your wedding gift money to his campaign; instead of buying wedding gifts. If the Economists are correct, you might consider sending your tux, gown, catering service, and wedding ring monies. It is a known fact, that divorce rates go through the roof during a Nation's time of Economic Depression, and marriage rates crash. We can slow, or evern stop Obama's Financiel Train wreck this November.....with your help.

Well, given Romney's obvious difficulties with women voters, the Tea Party and the Christian right, the choice may be wise, at least on paper. That said, given Michelle Bachmann's extreme views, it is hard to imagine mainstream Americans voting her into a position where she is only a breath away from the Presidency.

Has anyone checked her approval ratings in her home area? If so, she'll never get the nomination. Besides, I doubt she would let herself be controlled by the Republican puppet masters. She may be conservative, but she would never let "them" tell her what to do.

@Dixie Normous; Your views and opinions are as delusional as your screen name. Not the death panels again. Are you also going to start casting doubt about Obama's birthplace to?
