House ethics committee clears powerful GOP congressman

Washington (CNN) - The House Ethics Committee announced Tuesday that it has cleared Florida Republican Vern Buchanan in an investigation, finding no evidence that he purposely omitted information from the annual financial disclosure forms he is required to file.

But while the committee closed the case on this matter, it did not comment on other allegations involving Buchanan's business practices, his campaign finances, and accusations that he tried to try to stop a witness from talking. Buchanan remains the target of at least four congressional and federal investigations into those allegations.

Ethics in Florida? Ha!!! This from the state who stole an election, surpressing the vote and has the stand your ground law. Republicans in Florida are corrupt.

Just saw this video that one of the liberal groups plan to use against Romney telling blacks he is too white. Is ths another lie about Obozo being the post racial president? Or is it just typical democrat liberal hypocrisy? (Sorry, democrat liberal and hypocrisy are the same thing).

I would put my economic future into somebody hands that has difficult tax disclosures than a party of ez filers. The only reason they even file is to get their EITC.

has this ethics committee ever really NAILED ANYBODY??? Just a waste of time and more tax payer dollars as both Republicans and Democrats seem to get off scott free from these cases.

To make a long story short, Karzan was in financial trouble, was hoping for $2.9 million from Buchanan and not enough evidence to back Karzan's story on Buchanan's wrong doing. Committee clears Buchanan. Oh, and it is Karzan who gets fined $5000. Wow, that was an interesting mess Karzan caused only for Karzan to be the one that gets Fined.

Rangel wasn't even being investigated for the other crap and he got censured. This guy gets a free pass because he toes the party line and spends one lunch hour a week taking his turn under Norquist's desk.

"The statement noted that between 30% and 50% of the disclosure forms filed by House members include errors."
How about an investigation on the failure of the House to vet their members.

Wow, that was a "Fast and Furious" decision and with no more to come?
Even though there is "other things" unethical – he still remains on the throne
Please, was anything else expected from the GOPers when it's one of their own?

CNN your headline is garbage. Cleared of I ( which 30- 50 % get wrong, OMG and they are bright enough to represent some of us!!) of 4 ethics charges and some federal charges and Grand juries ongoing. He has been cleared of nothing in effect. 1 out of 4 don't get you a pass mark even or a Grade F- puhleeeze!!
I dont care which party he represents he has along way to go to prove he can rightfully remain a representative of the people.
