Video: 'Get over it,' Chaffetz says of Romney tax docs

(CNN) - Rep. Jason Chaffetz defended Mitt Romney against Democratic charges that the tax documents he has so far released - his 2010 returns and an estimate of his tax year 2011 liabilities - are insufficient.

"He's released everything that he's required to release including paying more than sixteen percent of his income to charitable giving," the Utah Republican said. "Governor Romney's been very successful. Get over it."

Once elected, President Romney should make Obama a U.S. citizen. That would be nice.

Willard is holding a town hall right now. I sure hope someone asks him about his taxes. McCain knows what's in Willard's taxes. Why not go ask him???

Once re-elected, the president should challenge Citizen United and make them explain how foreign money in our political system is legal.

Voters will not be bullied. Not going to simply "get over it".
If John Kerry could release upwards of 20 years worth of returns, Willard could at least be as straightforward as his father was and provide 12.
I suggest Chaffetz "get over it" that this issue is not and will not be going away until RMoney provides the same amount of material to the voters that he did for McCain during the veep vetting in 08.
The more Willard stalls, the brighter the lights become on the issue.
Willard should listen to his pals Christie and Barbour, they know better....

Why don't Republicans "get over" Obama's birth certificate. He wasn't even REQUIRED to show his birth certificate, but racists insisted. We are only asking for what every presidential candidate for the last 36 years has produced!

Beyond anything illegal what's the point. If Romney did something illegal Obama's IRS would have charged him with something already. Again what's the point. Is the fact he makes lot of money a bad thing? That's what obama doesn't get. Americans are supposed to be successful financially.

Who is this little insignificant idiot to ask anybody to get over anything? Romney is a cheat, a liar, a dishonest
flip-flopper and a total nobody. And the entire world is in the process of finding that out.
The few people in the GOP with a brain are already painfully aware of that. Just ask Boehner.

Isn't the hypocrisy amazing? Telling the Dems to get over trying to vett Romney's finances, yet they can't get over the ACA even after it's been battled in congress, the courts, and ultimately decided by the Supreme Court. All Dems are asking for is to vett the candidate. HIs father set the standard. What's the big issue if there's nothing to hide?

The very fact that someone has investments bothers a democrat liberal who would view saving and acting responsibly as a crime against humanity. Any savings should go to support the dope addicts, welfare frauds and corrupt union bosses as well as Obozo supporters that don't pay any taxes at all. All money belongs to the government to waste and not to the people who work for it according to them.

Successful at what cost? Profitting off of failed businesses and outsourced jobs. How is this type of experience going to help the marginal middle class and poor? Who is spending $25,000 a ticket to attend a fundraiser? Why shouldn't the top 1% of wage earners pay a little more in taxes? Why are they resisting to cover the 30 million unisured. If you're making less than $250,000 you better get onboard with the President. Do you expect the President to dig us out of this 12 year mess instantaneously? If it wasn't for the greedy CEOs we might not be in this fiasco.

This is a great idea. I hope the GOP/Teatrolls really hammer this message as much as possible: "Get over it. He's a Republican. Of course it's ok that he won't release his tax returns to a comparable extent as every other POTUS candidate int he past 75 years." Brlliant. Please, make t-shirts.

"Get over it!" I like it. If you can't be creative, artistic, innovative, hard worker and smart to find better ways to improve your way of living and instead choose the "blame others for your problems", get over it! Instead, get out of your couch and do something! Stop blaming others, YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE and WHO YOU BECOME IS A RESULT OF YOUR OWN PAST DECISION. It is no ones fault to be rich, America was not as rich as Europe in old history. But look at where America is "the greatest of all countries" Why? Because people have dreams and they worked hard to get it.. So, get over it! Romney's family including his parens deserve to be acknowledge for their street smart business skills.. so go start selling something and see if you can be as good as Romney's, and bypass their family fortune so you can be proud of yourself too..

Romney can produce his tax returns at the same time Obama produces his college transcripts, and more interestingly, Obama's college financial aid application.

Many folks complain about Romney having a $100 million Roth IRA. By investing just $15,000 and making a few good stock purchases in 1986 through today anyone could have a $26 million IRA value and legally not owe any taxes. Smart.

Don't believe me? Here are the trades: (the initial $15,000 would represent 8 years of IRA contributions).
    $15,000 bought 500 shares of UAL in 1986, sold in 1990 for $260/share = $130,000
    $130,000 bought 896 shares of UAL a month later at $145/share, sold a month later at $175/share = $157,000
$157,000 invested in the Blockbuster IPO doubled one month later = $314,000
$314,000 invested in the Boston Market IPO doubled to $628,000
    $628,000 invested in Google at $100/share and sold at $600/share = $3,768,000
$3,768,000 invested in Ford in Feb 2009 at $2/share, then sold at $14/share = $26,376,000
All legal. Of course Mitt Romney started out with more than $15,000.....

Maybe Romney isn't hiding this from the American people.
Maybe he is hiding it from the Mormon Church.
Maybe he does not want to pay the 10% they require (not elective) plus the added tax burden.
