Poll: Married and unmarried voters don't see eye to eye over election
(CNN) - There's a large marriage gap in the race for the White House, according to a new national poll.
A Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday morning indicates that President Barack Obama holds a 54%-34% lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney among non-married voters, while the presumptive GOP nominee leads the president 51%-38% among married voters.

"Although much has been made about the gender gap and how President Barack Obama's lead among women fuels his campaign, the marriage gap is actually larger and more telling," says Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
"The marriage gap may be related to the different priorities and economic situations of married and single people," adds Brown. "Married people are more likely to be older, more financially secure and more socially conservative than unmarried voters. The married column includes more Republicans and more white voters. Married voters are more likely to focus on the economy and health care, while single voters are more focused on issues such as gay rights and reproductive issues."
Quinnipiac is not alone in indicating a marriage gap. A look at the most recent demographics from the Gallup Daily Tracking poll also indicate Obama with a double digit advantage among non-married voters and Romney with a double digit advantage among those who are married.
The marriage gap is nothing new. Exit polls from the past two presidential elections indicate that Obama and Sen. John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic nominee, won the non-married vote, while Sen. John McCain, the 2008 GOP nominee, and President George W. Bush carried the married vote.
Among all registered voters, the poll indicates that Obama has a slight 46%-43% edge over Romney, which is just within the survey's sampling error.
Other findings from the poll: Independent voters are divided, with 43% backing Romney and 41% supporting Obama. And registered voters are split over whether Obama or Romney would do a better job on the economy.
The Quinnipiac University poll was conducted July 1-8, with 2,722 registered voters nationwide questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 1.9 percentage points.

Well this white, hard working, tax paying, married, over 40, proud liberal is voting for President Obama, again. So is my spouse and our parents as well. BTW – we would also be considered part of the 1% as far as wealth is concerned. But we care about our fellow Americans, and their health and well being. Obama 2012, seriously.
A exerpt from Sen Harry Ried explaining why he would not allow a vote on both extending all tax rates or the presidents plan:
"It's the help Paris Hilton legislation," he said. "It would give people like her a tax break for doing nothing — $46 billion of the American people's money to help Paris Hilton and others."
"$46 Billion of the American people's money" ????? THIS IS NOT ANYONE'S MONEY EXEPT THE PEOPLE WHO EARNED IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is exactly why the Dems need to be defeated in November, from top to bottom.

Republicans need to drink some coffee and wake up. I have been married a long time and i can tell
you that every time a democrat has been in office our annual tax return has been much better than
when republicans are in office. Every single time. This household is not going to forget how the repubs
drove the economy into the ground with W. Married or not is not relevant. Repubs advocate–no healthcare,
no help for the poor, deregulation at the cost of safety and health, a huge chasm for the middle class to
free fall downward. No thank you!

not all but surely some do. i guess the truth hurts huh? why are you so concerned about free riders in healthcare but not in all other parts of our society? a free rider is a free rider. why are responsible tax payers that practice birth control and only have kids when they can afford them paying for others that are spitting out kids they can't afford and mating with every person that propositions them? why can't we expect these free riders to do their part and get their parts snipped if they can't control themselves? if the government can force us to buy insurance, surely they can require this procedure to benefit society and reduce healthcare costs.
As a Texan now over 65 I've been looking for a primary healthcare provider who will take Medicare. With over 34 years of military service and the Tricare For Life Program you'd think they'd be easy to find. – not so. Patriotic physicians are harder to find than one might think...
If Texas accepted the new healthcare law this would be easy – but Governor "Oops" is rejecting participation and those under Medicare will have a much more difficult time. We'll all pay higher prices than the states choosing to use the much-improved system and have a much harder time getting care. This is just one of many reasons why I refuse to vote for a single candidate from the GOP – the Radical Party of No Help for Veterans and Nothing But Obstructionism.
62 years old, married 38 years, Voting for the Democrats
The number of married people is declining also. More and more young people are just living together, acting married without going all the way to actually be married.
Easily explained: Married people are more likely to have children. People with children think with their emotions, not their brains. The GOP has ensured that this election will be decided on fear, the most potent of emotions when it comes to people with children. Therefore, we're all doomed.

You've got that right! Like the free "writers" who write the laws. I'm talking about Rob-money and his buddies, writing tax laws through their surrogates in Congress to benefit themselves. They write their own tickets to wealth and power, and they toss a bone to the "commoners" once in awhile to prevent them from rioting and killing the aristocrats, like they did in France 200 years ago. When you see a poor person scraping by the best they can, it's because a freeloader like Rob-money has given them a loophole as a safety valve against revolution.
If life is so good for poor people, you have the choice to join them anytime. You don't have that same choice to join the Romney lifestyle.

New polls show most Americans don’t trust tv news media
How about a poll of couch sitting, unemployed malcontents waiting for money to magically appear on their bridge card? Want to bet the unmarried favor the chosen one regardless of race, creed, racism, or black power. Free money will get the vote every time.
For all those overweight, under worked, welfare grubbing, Obama voting jock sniffers- the polls open on the second FRIDAY of November. For all normal contributing Americans you already know when the polls open- and you can hardly wait.
