Romney teases VP selection in e-mail to supporters

(CNN) - It's certainly not an e-mail that will put the vice presidential questions to rest.

"We're getting ready to share some exciting news," Mitt Romney's campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, e-mailed supporters on Thursday. "Sometime between now and the Republican convention, Mitt will be announcing his choice for VP."

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has repeatedly declined to answer questions about who his campaign is vetting to join the ticket. He broke with that only once, when he told reporters that - contrary to one news organization's report - Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida was indeed being vetted.

Rhoades' e-mail to supporters was also a fundraising solicitation. "Every week until the VP announcement is made, one lucky supporter will win the chance to meet Mitt and his choice for VP," he wrote, asking for a $3 donation for entry into that drawing.

The Republican National Convention begins on August 27 in Tampa, Florida.

That's lucky, as in good fortune? Look. I'm not going to try to be snotty about this...thing..., but he's just weird and aloof. He'd probably have to work hard at seeming to be very nice and sincere. AFTER MEETING DISCUSSION: Mitt: "Glad I'm just getting the vote from that one. Would hate to have to deal with him socially". Prospective VP: "Yeah, what you said."

Romney should pick someone for VP that the left would fear more than Romney.

LOL. Don't waste your time. You WILL NOT be the republican nominee and even if you are, it would be political suicide for anyone to run with you – especially since news of your lies to either the SEC or the American people broke today! Willard is done. Toast.

I heard from a reliable source – the Romney campaign decided to go with Portman. Won't be announced until immediately before the convention. Probably the right pick.

It's hard to go into a convention without a VP pick, so that's a duh moment. However, that also means he gets to see who is willing to ride in the dog kennel on top of the car to get the job. I hope his choice is willing to give their tax info.

I wish that Romney's running mate will be such a person, who always naturally keeps the prestige among Democrats and Republicans. Good luck to Mitt Romney!

its amazing how he uses minorities to make news, he's getting hammered on his many views that are against the best interest of Hispanics and he throws out that Rubio is being veted. Now he's getting a ton of negative press for flying in his own personal black non NAACP members to an event. He's also getting hammered for his involvement with Bain decision making capacity or not. They lead that Condi Rice is being considered as a front runner for VP position. Give me a break, its so transparent. If he does go with either one as a VP its because he went so Far right and made so many comments he is hoping minorities are dumb enough to vote based on ethnicity against thier best interests... Give me a break and shame on CNN for taking the bait

At the time Romney was acquiring shares in Global-Tech, the firm publicly acknowledged that its strategy was to profit from prominent US companies outsourcing production abroad.

Most of us are not hanging on Mitt's every word. Why is he even talking about this now. Is it to get attention?

Romney should pick Palin as VP Nominee. Beside Palin, Romney doesn't appear so stupid and evasive and out of touch as he normally does!

Really? And is $arah Falin' going to make a repeat performance under the circus big tent? Of course we all know that the reason she took your place last time was because your business dealings scared the beejezzus out of McLame's vetting committee. Besides $arah could lie just as well as you but looked much prettier doin' it...Dont'cha know?

Again, you GOP/Tea supporters are an embarassment to anyone with a brain. But watch the usual trolls try their best to spin the Faux noise here

It is time to go back to basics! back to the roots of this great nation. one nation under God, undivisible, with liberty for all. and fight the good fight against all enemies 'domestic' and foreing. because if not, we may lose the soul of this nation . at the hands of corrupt people in high places, and abundant sin thru all the system government, economic and personal. go back to basics. repent of your sins; personal and as a nation. may God have mercy of us.

I really think that Mitt Romney should pick Condoleeza Rice. In order to reduce the "racism" card from President Obama we need to have an African-American on the ticket.

The bishop's campaign is now trying to play the race card with rice. I hope she sticks to her convictions and tells him to go bankrupt himself (just like he did Detroit).
The beefcake (barf) Cuban from Florida is not going to get him the Latino votes either. The paw man and mr. Mardi Gras are losers. Portman is too boring and has baggage. As a matter of fact, unless he pulls a mccain and still loses good luck with a vp candidate. Most of them have already been vetted and they are not good candidates.
Not only does the teapublikkkan party have the worst candidate in its history but there is absolutely NOBODY that can energize anyone ini their party.
