Connecticut governor questions GOP's patriotism

Williamsburg, Virginia (CNN) - Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy, a Democrat, questioned the patriotism of Republicans on Friday, saying their sole mission is to defeat President Barack Obama instead of passing meaningful legislation.

"To be a Republican today, you have to deny reality and embrace a message that has no other purpose than to elect their candidate as President of the United States," Malloy said at a press conference with other Democratic governors in Williamsburg, the site of the National Governors Association annual meeting.

As proof, Malloy cited the GOP's inability to develop a coherent alternative to the president's health care reform law.

"They know what they're against, but they can't tell you what they're for," he said.

Malloy called the situation "surreal."

"In other times taking those positions would be described as unpatriotic, but our politics have become so distorted that to be against a jobs bill is a good thing, and to be against health reform is a good thing," he said.

Good for you Governor........this is the party that questioned evryone else's patriotism throughout the last decade, even calling into question the patriotism of combat veteran's who disagreed with them politically. They have clearly put party before country and are thus "unpatriotic" in their actions of late.

Aaah.. you've got to love Democrats.

They spend years destroying American jobs, bankrupting the nation, driving up the cost of health car, making gas more expensive, getting the US's credit rating downgraded, blocking job creation bills, driving a record number of Americans into poverty..

And then turn around and say "if you won't help us destroy the nation.. you're not a patriot."

Grow up!!!!!! Another Democrat wasting time using Patriotism to play on people's emotions, attempting to distract voters from those standing in the unemployment line trying to figure out how to get through another week and how much longer will they wait and how much money is left to feed their families and some even wondering where they might be sleeping next week. Seriously, get out of your chair and do something for people who have completely exhausted all savings, all doors have closed on them.

How true what the Governor said. Just think, the Republicans wasted time in congress ( 33 times ) trying to repel the health care law knowing they had absolutely no chance of winning. Too bad this time and effort was not spent on jobs or the economy. I hope the people remember this when election time rolls around.

Never thought I'd say this of my former party, but the Gov is right. The GOP has grown so power-centric that they're only about that. Patriotism is a lost art with them.
