(CNN) - The Republican National Committee will launch their first television advertisements in support of Mitt Romney Saturday, an RNC official said.

The largest buy is $1 million and will air in the key battleground state of Ohio.

The RNC is spending nearly as much in North Carolina and Virginia - $938,000 and $915,000.

The remainder of the buy is split between New Hampshire, Colorado, Iowa, and Nevada.

An RNC official told CNN that "The RNC's fundraising success has allowed us to add an independent expenditure in addition to fully funding the ground game.

"That the committee's financial situation would be this strong would have been unimaginable when Chairman Priebus took over," the official continued.

Romney's campaign and the major super PAC supporting his candidacy - Restore Our Future - has bought millions in television time this month.

There is only so much you can cover up problems with questionable advertising. I don't think that the RNC can really get enough people to vote for Romney come the fall.

Without NC and VA, Flip is toast. It goes to show how poorly he is doing when he has to put that much $ into states that are normally knuckle-dragging, red-meat GOP strongholds.

  3. Wake up people

They are spending all of this money to try and candidate elected that a year ago none of them even wanted. Anything to get President Obama out of office. Too bad they have left the economy stagnant during their treasonous escapades.

    OBAMA 2012!
