Obama tried, new RNC ad says

(CNN) - A new television advertisement from the Republican National Committee says President Barack Obama took office with "big plans," but fell short.

"He tried. You tried," the narrator says. "It's OK to make a change."

The ad began airing on Saturday in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia, as well as in Boston and Washington, D.C., which reach the nearby battleground states of New Hampshire and Virginia, respectively.

The markets in which the ad is airing were reported by CNN's political advertizing consultant Campaign Media Analysis Group.

On Friday, the RNC announced plans for a $5 million buy in those states, which are considered within reach of either GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney or Obama. The CNN Electoral Map lists North Carolina as leaning in Romney's favor, and the others are toss-ups.

Obama, the ad says, fell well short on his plans for the deficit, unemployment and economic growth.

"What did we get? National debt over $15 trillion and climbing. Unemployment above 8 percent for 40 straight months. An ongoing economic crisis with no end in sight," the narrator says.

Romney's campaign and the primary super PAC supporting his candidacy have spent millions on advertisements this cycle. This is the RNC's first pro-Romney independent expenditure this cycle.

Obama and his people tried very hard. The Redumblicans have stopped all attempts to get jobs created let alone pass legislation that would get things moving. The GOP are obstructionist. They need to be voted OUT!!!!!!

This is a good ad. It is not demonizing Obama, it is saying he did a bad job, time to move on. It is not flat-out lies attemping to portay the opponent as a bad person, like Obama has done. Romney 2012-the fiscally responsible way forward!

Obama has been a great president and he's going to win in November, thank God. You know, the country would completely fall apart with a Romney presidency, he just doesn't have what it takes; he's so odd & empty.

Willard's campaign is the most dishonest ever. He says that the President has said things that are not (completely) true.
Willard has told more lies than any candidate we've ever had.

  7. Vote the Tea Party OUT in 2012

The RNC seems in a way to be admitting that President Obama DID inherit a bad economy, a bad situation, did his best but it in their opinion could not make things better. Of course they did fail to say he also inherited Republicans that vowed to make him a one term president and so far are trying to do just that. But then when someone mentioned that the Bush administration may still be partly at fault the far right says it's time to stop blaming him.

Yes, he has tried. Too bad the Republicans have not lifted a finger to help. Instead, they have gambled with the fiscal stability of the country simply because they want to make this president a one-termer.

Obama has failed this country and has abandoned the american people. If we re-elect President Obama, it would be the fiscal equivlent of suicide. Romney 2012- the fiscally responsible way forward!

The RNC ad should say Romney tried last time!

This guy has been running for almost seven years .
Why didn't Romney run on the economy in 08 ? Back then he was all about National Security.. If he's Mr Know it all Business guy , why didn't he share his knowledge of the 08 economic crash ?

Because he made money on it !

when will this rnc lunatics tells the Congress to stop blocking millions of jobs and allow the country to grow. on one hand they yell that the president is a dictator, and on the other hand they whisper to their lunatic repubs in the congress telling them not to write any bill that will move this cointry forward, just to stop this president from winning the election. I really didnt know that congress would be so wicked to allow this country to slide off the cliff just to get rid of this president.

Oh, so now they are talking to us in a condescending message? Let me tell you something, RNC. It should start dawning on you folks that voters these days are generally a little smarter. Take a flying leap, all of you. We are very aware you have done all you can to sabotage the President. We are very aware theres only so much the economy can recover, given a slumping world economy. And your stupid supply side economics isnt going to make matters any better. Supply side economics coupled with free trade is moronic economics! Either you are too incompetent to figure that out or you are aware and you mean to betray us!

RNC we the independents know that you don't want the economy gain traction for political gains therefore dragging all of us down. What happened to country first? Your no no no no to job bills, infrastructure bill etc is impeding the growth of the economy. You can fool your fox news ignorant viewers but not many open minded people in good USA. If you have worked with the potus the unemployment rate will be around 6%.

As for Republicans, they are not even trying. What have they done since taking over the House, other than forcing a near government default that lowered the U.S. credit rating and passing 33 bills to repeal all or part of Obama's healthcare bill, even though they knew the bills would not pass the Senate? Do you think they can pass at least one jobs bill that is not a tax cut bill in disguise or a bill that targets unnamed regulations?

An economic crisis is when you we are losing nearly a million jobs per month, we are far from there.

The lack of skyrocketing growth is due to the GOP doing everything they can over the last 4 years to slow our country down so that they can falsely blame Obama.

Yes, the President did try really hard to get the country back on track and despite the stone walling from the other side he managed to do that. Granted he recovery has been slow but it is the same all over the world not just the US. In fact the US is doing better than most European countries who used austerity measure only. When the opposition says immediately after you take office that their #1 prioity is to make the President fail (which would also mean the country) then you know it has got to be an uphill battle. Can you even imagine how much better off the recovery would have been if they had compromised on many of the job creating bills. Instead they filibustred and obstructed more than any other Congress ever and signed pledges to an unelected lobbyist. If the President is expected to run on his record, then so should the oppostion.

Wake up republicans. What was unemployment in Jan. 08? What was the national debt in Jan. 08? Where has the republican party been since Jan. 08? You believe your party needs to be "in power" or the economy won't improve. Do you really believe they have all the answers? That they've just been holding on to all the answers until they can get a republican president elected. What words have come out of Romney's mouth that make you believe he has all the answers to this "simple" problem! You act as though all issues, all ideas, all proposals are the responsibility of only the president. We do have a congress, and for the past 1.5 years your "wonderful saviours" have run the house. Have they "fixed" anything? Have they tried? (And don't lie to yourself) Did the economy improve or decline from 2000 to 2006? Where were your saviours then? Did the economy improve from 2008 to present! Remember, facts don't lie! What did your party do from 2008 to present to help the economy? Answer each of these truthfully (I know this will be hard for you) and hopefully you will see that your parties ads are full of lies and in reality point out the damage your party is responsible for!
