Romney talks VP prospects in e-mail to supporters

(CNN) - Mitt Romney has repeatedly declined to answer questions about his vice presidential selection process, but he raised the subject in an e-mail Saturday to supporters.

"Sometime soon, I will be choosing a vice presidential candidate to join our winning ticket," he wrote.

The e-mail from the candidate follows a similar one from his campaign manager, Matt Rhoades, on Thursday which invited supporters to donate to his campaign and enter themselves for a chance to meet Romney and his choice for No. 2.

"I would like the chance to personally introduce my running mate to you," Romney wrote in the e-mail.

The e-mail offered no indication of who he may pick.

"There are many incredible men and women who I would be lucky to have as a running mate," he wrote. "And that's why I'm so excited to invite you to meet him or her on the campaign trail with me."

The message, however, may offer a suggestion as to when Romney's decision could come.

Rhoades wrote in his Thursday email, "Every week until the VP announcement is made, one lucky supporter will win the chance to meet Mitt and his choice for VP."

But the candidate's Saturday e-mail requested donations and entries "before tomorrow at midnight" and made no mention of the contest continuing in future weeks.

There has been some speculation that Romney would announce his choice prior to his international trip later this month.

Romney was at his home in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, on Saturday and his campaign announced no public events for the day.

Who in their right mind would want to join this very weak candidate on his flip-flop, hide-the-money,repeal-but-replace-with-the-same-thing tour? What a slimey, spoiled, preppy!

Can't believe its already mid-July and this joker still hasn't announced a VP candidate yet. I think he's trying to avoid a McCain mistake by picking another loser like Palin.

He's trying to generate some buzz by building up the suspense. He also doesn't dare make a decision before the convention. He's caught between the tax hawks, the Christian Taliban, the Tea Party, the Republican establishment, and the Conservative Celebrities, and only one of those groups absolutely supports him. How he can select a VP without alienating at least two of those groups is beyond me. After that, all he has to do is attract the independent voters in the swing states without losing any of his own factions. Good luck with that.

I think for his VP choice Mitt Romney the conservative candidate who was against the bailout of the auto industry, the economic stimulus and the Dream Act and is against Obamacare should pick Mitt Romney the moderate candidate who saved Detroit, who favored a stimulus package, wants a path to citizenship for children of illegal immigrants and authored Romneycare.

Romney/Romney 2012! He's everything that we need and want and nothing that we want or need!

He won't release his taxes, or explain his tenure at Bane Capital. By the way, has anyone actually seen his birth certificate? The original??

The reason one hasn't been mentioned is because Romney doesn't have one. There seem to be few who would get close to him because of a number of reasons; religion (his or theirs), abortion stand, is he too far right or closeted left? The list goes on I am sure.

I nominate The Donald. That is if he can take time off from his never-ending search for Obama's birth certificate.

So far only Sarah bumpking from Alaska said she will do it knowing that even though Romney will not win she could profit some more off the selection. Her daugher BP is hoping to get another house from a book deal but this time off the coast somewhere warm. She promises to keep a good smile on while going to the bank to cash some more checks.

Anne Romney is wanting to know if she can be his Vepp too since her husband makes after forging taxes only 120 million per year and this will be a drastic pay cut. Anne even said to Mitt the other day to go out and get some more wifes to put to work while playing god and supporting the top one percent only. LOL!

Romney does not care about the middle class and that's why his billionaire friends are spending so much money to get him elected so that he could extend the bush tax cuts, turn medicare/medicaid into a voucher program and get rid of social security. we simply cant believe anything this guy says and his answers change hourly. hopefullly he will answer some tough questions during the debates.

Poor poor (but financially very rich) Mitt.

Which Romney is running? The one who is pro-gay rights or the one who is against them? The one who is pro-choice or the one who is against them? The one who created the healthcare for Massachusetts or the one who says he didn't? The one who said he wasn't an NRA member or the one who said he was? The one whose father released 12 years of tax returns when he ran for President or the one who has released exactly one return?

The man is such a flip-flopper on EVERY topic and issue, trying to pin him down is like trying to nail Jello to the wall.

It would be cool if Romney names Rubio as his running mate.

That means it'll be Mitt Romney – the guy who wrote Obamacare – and his running mate Marco Rubio – the guy who wrote Obama's new immigration policy – versus Obama.

How does the GOP come up with this stuff??

Mitt's will make a great president. Mitt's led a life of absolute integrity, honesty and success. He's a great role model for young people. America will be lucky to get him as president.

Anyone with Swiss bank accounts and Cayman Islands accounts has something big to hide. A full investigation is needed and "Mitt" should release 10 years' tax returns. The Obama hates demanded all his personal records, te same should be demanded of Romney. Not to mention the Bain timeline.
