Boehner team touts $80 million raised this cycle

(CNN) - Republican House Speaker John Boehner has helped pull in nearly $80 million since assuming his post in 2010, his political team announced Sunday.

In total, Boehner's has raised $79,220,330 through his political committees, along with the National Republican Congressional Committee and events held by Republican members of Congress at events the House speaker headlined. Boehner's team said he had headlined more than 100 such events.

According to Sunday's release, Boehner pulled in $8.3 million for his various political committees in the second quarter of 2012, and transferred $20 million from his committees to the NRCC.

“Millions of Americans continue to struggle in the Obama economy, and they are looking to Speaker Boehner and House Republicans to keep fighting to create a better environment for jobs by preventing tax hikes, repealing ObamaCare, cutting spending and eliminating excessive federal red tape," Boehner spokesman Cory Fritz wrote in a statement. "Speaker Boehner appreciates the support he’s received from across the country, and he’ll continue working tirelessly to return the conservative House majority that’s focused on jobs and the economy.”

CNN Senior Congressional Producer Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Why do the wealthy spend outrageous amounts to keep people around who don't even do anything? My head is hurting trying to process this piece.

Send a message in nov by sending repubs home en masse. Please.

Funny how Boner and the GOP calls letting the Bush tax cuts expiring an Obama tax hike. You'd have to be really stupid not to see that (or just a right-winger).

Ok repubs where is your response? You know, campaigner-in-chief, Obama plays too much golf. So is it perfectly acceptable that your top guy (Boner) can spend so much time at these events, instead of jobs, jobs, jobs? I can't wait to here the crickets.

these repubs wants to give millionaire and billionaire tax cuts, but when these people scan the globe to figure out where is the best place to invest their money to bring back great money to their investors, American is last on their list. their biggest problem are those high middle class wages, when they can simply make their goods in swet shops and in countries without child labor laws, and put a great big smile on their shareholders face.
