(CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner has recently stepped up criticism of President Barack Obama, but his comments Wednesday were particularly harsh, saying the president "doesn't give a damn about the middle class Americans who are out there looking for work."
"What he's trying to do is distract the American people in order to win his own reelection," Boehner asserted.

The House speaker pushed back on calls for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to release more tax returns, calling the issue a "sideshow" Democrats designed to draw people's attention away from the president's handling of the economy.
"The American people are asking where are the jobs? They're not asking where in the hell the tax returns are," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill.
But when the speaker was pressed that some Republicans, including some in the House, are also urging Romney to release more financial information, Boehner brushed it off, insisting, "It's not about the tax returns, it's about the economy. The American people vote with their wallets."

Sonny u said Obama is an example of middle class America, he makes 400,000 thousand a year and brings in 72,000 cash a month from other income, HE AINT MIDDLE CLASS HONEY
Is he making a bad joke? How many jobs have you created Boehner? ZERO NONE!! Boehner and the republicans will do anything to prevent raising taxes on the wealthiest people and do nothing what so ever to help middle class Americans, except demonize them and blame them for any and all American financial problems.
You can tell most leftylibdems aren't really Americans from their incessant calls and fervant hope that the Dems will be the only party in power, thus becoming a de facto dictatorship and unraveling American history and tradition not to mention fair and equitable governance. But they don't care, these rigid, uncompromising demogagues. We've seen this scenario play out in other countries, this tilt toward socialism, one party systems and government ownership of the means of production, with disasterous results for all classes except the rich who are global citizens and simply flee for saner ground.
sound a little angry, is it because you know deep down you have a loser for a candidate?
I'm glad that Boehner has sobered up enough to realize what day of the week it is but I guess that he is not sober enough to realize that the American people are asking him where the jobs are. After all, the republicans ran on job creation in 2010 so where are the jobs?
Boehner only cares about rich people and his TAN!
Oh – and the Republicans do? Hardly. They're only interested in their 1% buddies and trying to figure out how they can scr3w the American worker (and the poor and the elderly and the needy and....).
Boehner doesn't have a clue on what he is saying. The Republicans are becoming more and more mentally derranged because they don't have anything to give to the American people. What have the Republicans done for you lately?? None , zipp, nada. Time to vote them out of office already. We don't have enough money to pay for their luxurious life style. Time to invest on the Middle Class and the Poor. Lift the American lives and let Obama conti nue to work on American Progress.
Well Mr boehner, why haven't you done your part? The house has done nothing to create jobs, actually by cutting spending it has put more people out of work
Wonder how long it will take for the apology for this ridiculous comment? Obama's life experience is rooted in the middle-class – so such experience for Romney, was there? Boehner has gone off the deep end and is helping to dig Romney's political grave.
Here's a real newsflash: neither party cares about the average American citizen, only the money and power that result from their votes.
Yet, we have average Americans posting comments here who can't see past the Team Name (Democrat or Republican) associated with their favorite player. They argue as if one side is 100% in the right and the other in the wrong – completely black and white. In actuality they are the same corrupt teams playing in the same corrupt league.
When we will as a country wake up to this fact? Never, perhaps? In that case we deserve the government we willingly elect.
Forget about this party affiliation nonsense.
One more hint: if any person running for election spends 99% of their time demonizing the other candidate, they likely do not care to share their true intentions with you, the petty average citizen. They should spend 100% of their time talking about how they would make the country better for the citizens of the country (not to be confused with 'fill in the blank' hyphen Americans. ALL Americans.
