GOP strategists: Bain attack ads are this year's Swift Boat campaign

(CNN) - Longtime Republican strategists see something familiar in President Barack Obama's re-election campaign's attacks on GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's tenure as head of the private equity firm Bain Capital.

Those critiques, they say, seem to borrow a page from the 2004 Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign that called into question the service record of then-Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran.

Swift Boating : assassinating ones character based on repeated lies by the opposition.

Swiss Boating : self-assassination of a candidate by trying to run on the positives of ones record, while refusing to own up to all the negatives of that exact same record the opposition is now casting light on.

Romney REALLY REALLY hopes we don't realize he said the exact same "you didn't build that" speech during the Winter Olympics(which he also got millions of Government funding to save). Not to mention the business owner Romney used in his commercial also got GOVERNMENT assistance for his business.

Cant wait for him to release his taxes so we can bury his campaign chances once and for all.

    OBAA 2012

Roves Crossroads going at it again with negetive Obama ads and Romneys trip is now for a fund raiser instead of foriegn policy, nice how it changes going overseas isn't it..These campaign laws should be illegal in Citizen United and the SCOTUS should be held accountible for this partisan ,treasonistic attack on our nations politics,it should be held nationally, not globally as Romneys now making it in going to Isreal.

There are legitimate questions about Mr. Romney's tenure at Bain. He would like us to believe that it take two years to get his name off documents sent to the government. Sounds like Bain did not move quickly and the reason would be interesting to know.

To me the bigger question revolves around his overseas accounts. How man candidates have had off-shore accounts? These accounts are used so the owner will not have to pay taxes on them. Why would a man who wants to President and claims that he can get America working send his money to off shore accounts. Wouldn't one think that his money would remain int he country to emphasize a person's faith in the American system of enterprise.

so you mean the GOP is FINALLY admitting that the "swit boat" attack was not honest? That they were downright LIES?? Back when they happened they swore up and down the attacks were true. Funny how time and reversals can change some folks minds.

Would Karl Rove want to talk about SWIFT-BOATING, since he is the undisputed #1 expert on it?

Gingrich, Santorum, Perry, Paul and Bachmann were the first to "Swift Boat" Romney, Obama is just going by their own playbook. The Negative ads started against Romney during the Republican campaign, so don't blame Obama and no apology needed.

I love the way the rethugs spin the truth. The bain matter is extremely important against the bully bishop because he wants to run on his business record while telling us he had nothing to do with what went on at bain. Regardless all he did was make LOTS of money with other people's money while taking jobs away from the middle class and socking the money away overseas so he doesn't have to pay taxes.
You can't have it both ways. You either fired American workers and sent their jobs overseas while bankrupting companies and closing down plants or you have done absolutely nothing with your worthless life!
Which is it? Why don't you want us to see your tax returns during those years? Hiding something?

GOP strategists: Bain attack ads are this year's Swift Boat campaign
As several have pointed out, there's a world of difference between 'Swift Boating' a candidate (making up lies from thin air) and what's happening with Willard (telling the truth about his tenure as an equity capitalist).

But, if his campaign doesn't want to talk about his 'business' record, we can always discuss his term as Governor of Massachussetts–where they flat out loath the man! I wouldn't mind that at all!

So the Repubes are admitting their "swift boat" ads were unfair? The difference is the "swift boat" ads were vicious LIES; the Romney's ads tell exactly what he did!
