Super PAC uses Olympic 'opening ceremony' to hit Romney in ad

(CNN) - The super PAC backing President Barack Obama uses the Olympic "parade of nations" to mock Mitt Romney's reported overseas investment accounts in a television ad released Wednesday.

The minute-long ad from Priorities USA is set to air in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia during broadcasts of the London Olympics, the group said. The games begin Friday.

An official with the group said the ad was part of a larger $20 million television and Internet push "to educate voters about Mitt Romney's business record and policies that hurt middle class families."

The spot features an announcer detailing Romney's accounts as video rolls of past Olympic opening ceremonies.

"Welcome to the Olympics!" the announcer says. "There’s Mitt Romney, who ran the Salt Lake City Games, waving to China – home to a billion people. Thousands owe their jobs to Mitt Romney’s companies."

Romney, who will attend the London opening ceremony as part of a three-nation foreign tour, was the president and CEO of the Salt Lake City Winter Games in 2002.

His campaign frequently cites his experience there by saying he turned around a failing operation into one of the most successful games in history.

The spot latches onto a now-familiar attack line from Obama's team, which has hit its rival for reportedly shipping jobs overseas during his time as chief executive of Bain Capital.

Romney's team counters that he left Bain before the firm invested in companies that outsourced jobs, though some records indicate he was still listed as the firm's CEO.

The Romney campaign has also pointed to a nonpartisan fact-check from FactCheck.Org, which poked holes in the "outsourcer" claims, and recently launched a new offensive accusing the president of outsourcing jobs through his administration's trade policies and loan guarantee program.

The Priorities ad ticks off a host of foreign countries as footage rolls of delegates entering an Olympic stadium.

"India, which also gained jobs thanks to Romney, an outsourcing pioneer. And Burma, where Romney had the uniforms made for the 2002 games," the announcer says, before moving on to countries that are regarded as offshore tax havens.

"We know the Swiss have a special place in Mitt Romney's wallet – er – heart," the announcer says. "He kept millions in Swiss banks – those Swiss sure know how to keep a secret. Speaking of secrets, there's Bermuda. Home to a secretive corporation set up by Romney. No one knows why. And Romney won’t tell. And the Cayman Islands. Where Romney keeps millions to avoid U.S. taxes."

The ad concludes: "You gotta say this about Mitt Romney. He sure knows how to go for the gold - for himself."

Democrats have also used this line of attack on Romney in the past, claiming the presumptive GOP nominee isn't being transparent enough in only disclosing two years of personal income tax information. Romney has released his income tax return from 2010, and has vowed to release his 2011 return when his accountant completes it. He did release an estimate of his 2011 taxes.

Romney's campaign says that level of disclosure is beyond what is legally required of presidential candidates, and is plenty of information for voters to decide between Romney and Obama.

Obama needs to shut up. First of all, what job has Obama ever created? NONE! He's spent his whole life living off the taint of the government, just like all that support him. He's a mental midget when it comes to the economy. Things are terrible, he made them worse with his Leftist, pie in the sky, progressive wet dream economic policies which amount to nothing but demonizing the successful people in this country. He's got nothing to offer other than class warfare, trying to pit on set of Americans against another. Pathetic.
    *************************
And what are you offering except RNC talking points? Nothing. What has the GOP House offered that has a chance of getting to the President's desk? Nothing. What specifics has Romeny offered on how he will change things? Nothing. When the opposition does not feel obligated to offer anything except spiteful, petty attacks, what are you left with? Pointing out the complete lack of willingness on their part to work together on solving our nation's problems. That's what Obama and the country are left with, and your comments are a perfect sample of what the GOP does, attack and complain that the wealthy are victims, even as they take federal dollars every day to make their businesses work. By the way, how is Obama a mental midget on the economy? Please explain and provide expamples of how his decisions would have differed from Romney-oh, that's right, Romney came in 47th out of 50 states in job creation when he was governor, that is, when he bothered to do the job during the one term he was in office. Meanwhile, he hiked taxes on everything that moved in MA, and did nothing while his tax cuts for the wealthy forced local governments to increase their taxes at the fastest rate in the country. Yep, Mitt's a economic wonder alright. he forced people out of MA when he was governor at such a high rate he created a labor shortage, and he STILL ended up in 47th place.

Why dont the liberals answer the questions about Obama and his Jobs Czar and his commission on Jobs. Obama's Jobs Czar is the CEO of GE ... and they have been closing factories in the USA and opening them in China ... And while we are talking about jobs ... Wh hasn't Obama had any time to meet with his Jobs Comission ... he sure has enough time to go golfing or vacation ... btw ... who pays for Obama's golf fees ... is that tax payer funded or are the courses giving him free fees. If he is golfing for free ... isnt that nice that our Comander in Chief is also our vacationer in Chief, our Golfer in Chief, and if he gets all this for free doent that make him out leacher in Chief?

Too bad these olympics are not in China. That's one country the bully bishop has sent jobs to so he should be very popular over there.
Then again, I don't think the Chinese are that stupid to be taken like some Americans by his lying, WHERE ARE HIS TAXES, flip flopping sorry excuse of oxygen waste.

Jewels - And, one last thought. Apple has all of their products produced in China, is my understanding. They really should be a leader in bringing back jobs to the U.S. They clearly have business sense but, step it up!
    ================================================================================================
And then there is GE, the CEO sits on Obama's Jobs Council I believe, you know, the one he doesn't meet with because he's too busy golfing and vacationing. And then there is GM, which the US taxpayers own a large part of. And then HP, IBM, and probably just about every major US company.

Maybe Obama should impose a $10,000 a year tax penalty for every overseas job these companies have? That will bring in a lot of money and jobs right? Until the company decides to move entirely overseas and then the government gets nothing, zip, nada. Obama and the Democrats refuse to acknowledge the obvious, what you tax the most, you get the least of. The more you tax wealth and productivity, the less you will get. The USA government cannot hold them hostage within our borders.

    Great Ad!!! Totally True.

And as far as the guy who posted the Taxman Beatles song earlier, are you kidding me? Taxes paid by the rich in this country are the lowest in 100 years! And Republicans are just SO fixated on more tax cuts for this crowd. Democratic Plan would save the tax cuts by asking more of those making $250,000. Republican Plan places this burden on those getting Food Stamps and Medicaid. The difference in "values" between the two parties could not possibly be clearer with these priorities.

Why can he run on his own record? He is running the most negative ever! In fact, 97% of the Obama campaign’s advertising consists of attacks on Mitt Romney.
So this is what “hope and change” has come to in the end?

Although I would prefer for the President to continue owning the proverbial high road, I am nonetheless gratified that he has chose to fight the outright lies and the tripe with the truth. I am gratified that he is not shying away from a fight. Those that have the nerve to ask him to "stay classy" should stop and consider what they would do if they had been maligned for four straight years.
Since when is it considered "unclassy" for a person to defend themselves against lies?
The President owes it to the American voters to stem, and correct their mis-education at the hands of Romney by exposing them to the truth by any menas available to him and those that support him.
Obama 2012. Because the United States presidency is NOT for sale.

Hehehe....REAL TOM PAINE, Which planet do you live on? Saturn or Uranus? You do sound like some kind of ALIEN! Surprisingly you seem to be trying to speak English like us here on earth.

It's people or ...er ALIEN like you, Mitt Romney, Donald Trump and George W. Bush who have driven us in this deep ditch. It's people like you of whom decent Americans are afraid.

Thank GOD for Obama...at least he is succeeding in digging us out, but YOU wish to remain there. Well, you stay there'll while we move FORWARD.

Bravo!!!! to Obama. He's becoming one of the best Presidents this country has ever seen.

When will Romney be attending that overseas fundraiser that Diamond is throwing for him.......oh wait! His friend Diamond is otherwise occupied these days with that high-end banking irregularities problem thingy. So, so sorry Mitt. No overseas fundraiser for you, which works out just fine because aren't those things, like, illegal?!?

So economics is a race of 50 states, that's what is important? Why don't YOU get off the DNC talking points. Why don't YOU go post your nonsense on a conservative web site? It's real easy being for the home team on CNN.

Bottome line, Obama is Government centered in anything he does, which also explains his utterly stupid comment of "you didn't build that" This shows and proves the man has no clue, and yet, despite all the evidence, you progressives can't seem to get enough of this loser.

Romney would never say anything that stupid. It's the power of the individual and not the fat ass government you seem to love, that creates economic opportunity. Government via regulations (something Romney wants to address btw) is the obstacle to everything. Get a clue

Before Romney and friends sell our government health agencies and out sources there help line overseas .

You might want to call and ask for a help. The first thing one needs to cure a problem is to find the right information.

There are other ways to deal with ignorance , have you thought about turning of Fox news and taking a walk in the park before they become privatized ?

This is just another example of the idiocy of this President. He has disrepected the greatness of the olympic games just like he has done to the office of the President. I can't wait for him to get the boot in November.

Thoughtful and innovative but then again Democrats seem to be thoughtful and objective. They praise President Obama and pledge their ongoing support for him but in the same sentence voice their difference of opinion. For example, Michael Moore on Piers Morgan last night- a truly balanced perspective.

If you fact check, the numbers show we have improved since Obama came into office, True we are not where we should be, but stop and think. What do we have congress and a senate for – to do something. If everything is the responsibility of the President, we could save a lot of money and just ship them all home. No way possible could anyone turn around the recession we had in a few years. I do not hear any plans from Romney that are specific. He did say however that at the end of his second term there would be no deficit. In my math that is 8 years. But GOP is beating up Obama for not getting it done in 3. I do not trust someone whose claim to fame is being a great businessman and lost all the records from Gov. of MA, Salt Lake City Olympic records, and countless personal records he will submit as previous Presidents have. Leads me to believe he is either dishonest or not too smart – either way he does not need to repesent this country as President. We would be the laughing stock of the rest of the world. I do not even have to read anything – just watch previous videos where he flip flops and I do believe you can say lies. I have lived a long time and this is undoubtedly the worst nominee for either party I have seen. He is out of touch with the real world and cares nothing except for himself. Comes across as a conceited, arrogant bully. And on top of that he thinks he is really funny. the smart, sensible repubicians in power need to get some balls and stand up to these batcrapcrazies. I think John McCain has started and the rest should follow. 4 years of Romney would be worse than 8 years of Bush. Bush is even distancing himself from these crazies and not going to the GOP convention. I am embarrassed with them also. I will take my chances with 4 more years of Obama. We don't need to rush into anymore wars as we have paid a high price with our young men and women's lives. Plus the financial costs. Let's get our own house in order.

Obama's favorability is taking a big hit in recent polls because they don't like that he has gone so negative, and been so inaccurate in his attacks. He truly is a man without a plan. He is floundering about, blindly, hoping that he will run into dry ground by accident. He is just in over his head and is woefully underprepared. Even the partners at Bain who are Obama supporters and donors said that Romney was gone long before one of their companies ever outsourced a job overseas. Yes, you read that right, the parners who are large Obama donors have said that the President is wrong on this.

Ask anyone who has followed the campaign dating back to the primaries and the opponents in the Primaries who ran and is still running the nastiest and most dishonest campaign of all time. Also why is Gov Romney keeping his time in MA as governer in the Witness Protection Program. He WON"T run on that record and CAN"T run on the BAIN Pain record. He is running a 100% attack based negative campaign. The only problem you and every other conservative whiner is Obama actually started taking the fight to Romney instead of letting him stand on the sideline lauching heckles like a 2 bit soccer hooligan. Your just accustomed to seeing Dems play Defense. Welcome to the NEW Dems, Obama Warren, Shumer, Pelosi. They play OFFENSE to. Get used to it. Romney will have to own his own poor record and the Dems will force you have to finally want to vote for him not just let him go on living off the vote against Obama theme.

    Willard: POTUS
Interviewer: Okay sir, may be see your credentials?
Willard: Well, I destroyed (excuse me, misplaced the files in MA and the Olympics)
Interviewer: Okay sir, well do you have anything else that we might be able to verify?
Willard: No, but my word should be good enough.
Inteviewer: So, what you're saying is – we can't verify anything but we should just hire you based on your word?
Willard: Well, yes, afterall, I'm doing this as a favor to "you people".
Interviewer: No thank you, we want FACTS, times and dates and you sir, would not fit in.

Sounds crazy right? Well this is exactly what Willard wants us to do "THINK CRAZY".
