Romney shrugs off magazine's ‘wimp’ cover

(CNN) – Romney defended himself Sunday from an upcoming Newsweek cover that suggests he's a "wimp."

“If I worried about what the media said I wouldn’t get much sleep,” said Romney in an interview in with CBS’ “Face the Nation” in Jerusalem on Sunday. “And I’m able to sleep pretty well.”

Hitting the stands Monday, Newsweek's cover blares: “Romney: The Wimp Factor.” In smaller text, it asks: "Is he just too insecure to be president?"

The presumptive GOP nominee reiterated that he’s not worried about the "wimp" narrative in his interview, recalling similar criticism made of former President George H. W. Bush. Romney said Bush “was a great president.”

In 1987 Newsweek ran a cover of Bush, then-vice president, titled “Fighting the ‘Wimp Factor’.”

Bush went on to win the 1988 election Michael Dukakis.

Romney is currently in Israel on the second leg of a three country foreign tour.

Forget Newsweek’s cover story and the other slanted media. Governor Romney has assured Netanyahu of support and the go ahead to bomb Iran’s terrorist nuclear facilities. This will be the “October surprise’ and it won’t be Obama and his Chicago pols delivering it. The attack will remind voters how weak the Democrats are on security. The Iranians will close off the Persian Gulf oil resulting in skyrocketing gas prices for which the voters will blame Obama. Who’s the wimp now?

Not only is Romney a "wimp " but a criminal. He refuse to release his taxes indicates he has something to hide. Why would any working Anerican would even consider voting for someone who has cheated on his taxes and perhaps even broken the law.

We know Romney has no use for the Working Class, but we had no idea his secrets and deceptions against the American people and the United States by having off shore Banks holding his Wealth. It looks like he has something to hide and protect from the United States. We need a President who is Transparent and with Integrity like President Barack Obama, who will win in November for his compassion for the American People who have struggled after the largest bank robbery in American History in 2008.

I think a more appropriate cover would be ab etch a sketch artists rendition of mighty mitt - maybe a plit screen with him looking left and right at the same time.

He is a wuss, a habitual liar, a pandering dough faced coward. Wonder what his position on Iran and Israel will be in the morning?

Mitt is a whimp and a bully. We saw this when asked about when he left Bain. He has yet to tell us the truth. How about those offshore accounts. I can't believe people will vote for this guy.

News Week shows more news coverage respect to Ahmadinejad....therefore,Romney should wear any journalistic abuse from this liberal rag with a badge of honor.

I think that Romney has to really think about it because he never served in the military nor has any of his boys. What have they done to support the miliarty? I can't think that they have because they don't pay a whole lot of taxes and look to get us into more active military engagements.

Yet to see Romney take a real stand against reprehensible positions of Limbaugh, Nugent, Fischer, etc.

Mitt's weakness sadly does not covey leadership nor presidential material.

The choice is easy, those that think Bush was a great president vote for Romney. Those that think Romney will be as good a president as Bush vote for Obama.

Maybe not a wimp, but not a businessman who started and built up a business either. He was a Wall St. type who made money off commissions whenever one of the companies under contract signed any kind of agreement, good or bad. And now, though he left Bain a long time ago, he still receives millions in commissions for deals they make today. Nice work if you can get it.

'Romney said Bush “was a great president.” '

And that, ladies and gentleman, is the end of this carnival of a candidacy. I had thought an absolute lack of character and craven desperation to embrace anything to win – er, that is, "non-partisan progressive moderate extreme conservative" – was the worst. No, this is the nadir.

  25. something to think about

Theres no difference between Democrats and Republicans. Both bailed out banks with OUR money, Both are also rich beyond belief on our money.

Id like to see a vote of NO CONFIDENCE on the ballot box, or a legitimate party that actually represents the United States, and not lobbyists and special interest groups.
