Romney aide loses cool, curses at press in Poland

Warsaw, Poland (CNN) - The traveling press secretary for Mitt Romney lost his cool and cursed at reporters who attempted to ask questions of the Republican presidential candidate in a public plaza near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw Tuesday.

After Romney paid his respects to Poland's war dead and shook hands with a small gathering of the nation's military veterans, the GOP contender walked approximately 100 yards away from the memorial as he chatted with Warsaw's mayor.

As Romney made his way to his vehicle, reporters attempted to shout questions to the candidate. The former Massachusetts governor, who has answered only three questions from his traveling press corps during a week-long overseas trip, ignored the queries. Romney did sit down for multiple interviews during his foreign swing, including with CNN's Piers Morgan and Wolf Blitzer. Romney also spoke with NBC News, CBS News, ABC News and Fox News during his trip.

When members of the press tried to ask Romney about some of the mishaps on his trip, his traveling press secretary Rick Gorka verbally dressed down reporters.

Here's a transcript of the questions and Gorka's response:

CNN: "Governor Romney are you concerned about some of the mishaps of your trip?

NYT: "Governor Romney do you have a statement for the Palestinians?

Washington Post: "What about your gaffes?

NYT: "Governor Romney do you feel that your gaffes have overshadowed your foreign trip?"

CNN: "Governor Romney just a few questions sir, you haven't taken but three questions on this trip from the press!

Gorka: "Show some respect"

NYT: "We haven't had another chance to ask a question..."

Gorka: "Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect."

Moments later, Gorka told Jonathan Martin, a reporter for Politico, to "shove it." About a half-hour later, the aide called reporters to apologize.

Gorka's comments to the media came just hours before Romney's foreign policy speech in Warsaw.

Aides to the GOP candidate say Romney visited Poland to highlight the nation's growing economy and honor its contributions to the war in Afghanistan.

Do you blame Rmoney for not answering questions? Every time he opens his mouth, he shows just how very stupid he is. Now he has his entire entourage on the same page.

I have another question for Mr. ROMNEY (Redistribution and Outsourcing Means No Employment for You): Where are all your tax returns? I'm sure you shoved them into a deep dark place like all the other pieces of information you want to hide.

It is what the republicans are all about – "KMA, shove it, my way or the highway," etc. That is why they are out of touch with America, and why they don't stand a chance of winning the November elction. They better learn to compromise if they want to suceed in politics!

Not ready to be President. Him and the people around him. They don't seem to have the idea that they are running to serve the people. Clearly. Not. Ready.

Lost his cool? Doesn't sound like it. I would have told every reporter to find their own way back to the States. Republicans need to learn to quit being so nice to the press.

Romney or his campaign -not forthcoming about anything? Gee...what a surprise...he's been such an open book up until now. As one who lived in Massachusetts during his mostly absentee governorship and who watched him totally reverse everything he campaigned on to become governor there...BUYER BEWARE. And anything he says today could be gone tomorrow, depending on which way the winds are blowing for him.

They're going to have to keep Romneyshambles on a tight leash – just like they did with Sarah Palin.

Now imagine how the media and the right wing radicals would react if it was the President's press aide.

The American People want to see mitt's tax returns for the last 20 years. We also want to know how many jobs he's off-shored and how much of the profits are sitting in off-shore accounts evading taxes.

I'm no fan of Romney but I think his press secretary was right in this case. Reporters could have waited until Romney was not in such a hallowed place.

This has been the norm for this candidate for the highest position in our country – sound bites, political poses and many many large fund raisers.
The contrast between this guy and our President – wow! When President Obama holds a news conference he takes any questions and we know how tough the press has been at these events. Why? He has NOTHING to hide while it seems Romney has EVERYTHING to hide – his true business backround, his taxes and most important of all, where the hell he stands on ANY issue!! He has flip flopped so often – many times on the SAME DAY!

The aide said "Show some respect." Yet he showed respect by cursing. LOL

Imagine draft-dodger Romney at a site where war victims are buried. More hyprocrisy from the man who wants to be President yet doesn't pay taxes and hides his money overseas.

Well now, THAT wasn't very Mormonistic of them. Mitt better get his boys in line. He's embarrassing us on the world stage without even being president. Insullts the English about being prepared for the Olynmpics...then he irritates the Palestinians...and now we're in Poland. Oh yea...this guy would be a great president.

I wouldn't have apologized. He asked the reporters to have some respect at a holy site and they wouldn't shut up. They deserved a whole lot worse than that. Meanwhile, Obama's last press conference was in March and the next most recent was nearly 4 months before that. Obama essentially tells a reporter to shove it when he asks a question everyone blames the reporters. A Presidential candidate goes maybe 5 days without taking questions and that's enough to make the reporters ask questions at inappropriate times and now it's the candidate's people are to blame this time? At least it shows which side your bias is on.
