First on CNN: Romney preps swing state blitz, stirring V.P. speculation

Washington (CNN) – Mitt Romney's presidential campaign is quietly laying the groundwork for a high-profile blitz of several key battleground states in the run-up to the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and Republicans briefed on the plans say it has all the trappings of a vice presidential rollout tour.

On the heels of his rocky trip overseas, Romney will spend the coming days maintaining the kind of schedule he has kept for much of the summer, with appearances and fundraisers in medium-sized cities in various swing states. Romney will visit Colorado, Nevada and Indiana this week, and make stops in Ohio next week.

But beginning August 10th, Romney will ramp up his campaign operation with a splashy four-day bus tour targeting the largest media markets in several of the states that will decide the November election, CNN has learned.

And in a show of force and party unity, Romney will be joined at each stop by prominent Republican officials and campaign surrogates.

Some details are still murky, and Republicans cautioned that they are subject to change, but on August 11th, Romney will hit three of Virginia's biggest population hubs - the Washington, D.C. metro area, Richmond and Norfolk - before heading down to North Carolina the following day.

On Aug. 13, the Monday after the Olympic Summer Games finish in London, Romney will arrive in Florida for campaign stops in Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami.

Romney aides are also scouting multiple campaign venues in Ohio for later that week, knowledgeable Republican sources told CNN. Other states may also be added to the itinerary that week.

"Sounds like V.P. week," said one Republican familiar with the schedule, who did not want to be identified revealing the campaign’s plans. “Hitting the big markets in the big states. It just makes sense.”

A Romney campaign official confirmed that a bus tour is being organized before convention week, but said the theme of the tour would be Romney’s vision for the economy.

Revealing the vice presidential pick in the week prior to the convention would be a logical choice for the Romney campaign, which would be able to generate maximum media attention in the late summer lull between the conclusion of the Olympics and the convention.

  10. I've always voted

Send Mittens out to more countries. It's cheaper than tv commercials and he's doing great getting Obama re-elected.

George W. Bush inherited a strong economy, a budget surplus, and a nation at peace.

Eight years later, he left Obama with a shattered economy, a trillion dollar deficit, and two useless wars.

Obama saved the country from another Great Depression, rebuilt GM, reformed healthcare, reformed Wall Street, doubled the stock market, created 11 straight quarters of GDP growth, created 28 straight months of private sector job growth, got Bin Laden, got Gaddafi, and got us out of Iraq.

And now with the automatic spending cuts and the expiration of the Bush tax cuts in 2012, Obama has solved the deficit problem as well.

Obama has done a very good job.

Romney's gonna lose big time – he's out of touch, has no foreign policy experience, hides money, evades taxes, and will try to differentiate Romneycare from Obamacare – not intellectually possible. He's toast.

If you include FICA an SS the 50% that according to the GOP pay "no taxes" actually pay a higher rate than the 13% Mitt paid. The GOP never acknowledges that FICA and SS are taxes but they sure raid the fund to cover their deficits.

Does Romney even really want to win? I haven't seen campaigning this lazy since John Kerry refused to call out W's Swift Boat lies. Romney's trying to run out the clock. He knows there is a certain number of people who are going to vote against Obama no matter what. And he's just praying to Joseph Smith that's going to be a big enough number to get him the job. And that's not going to work. Obama's going to kick his you-know-what right out of his magic underwear when the debates start.

Obama did what? How much is the deficit now with Obama? Why did the taxpayer hve to rebuild GM? Obama saved GM how about the taxpayer saved GM. Reformed wallstreet. Where? explain The seals got Bin Laden not Obama. When he puts on a uniform and serves he would have a part in it. We are still in Iraq sorry. His spending cuts won't even touch the deficit. I sure wouldn't want you doing my books. Ron Paul is the only answer! Join the revolution the only true candidate.

Don't worry, we survived Bush because the lemmings voted for him. We can survive Romney. It is just sad that the GOP likes Bush policies so much they are trying to sell trickle down economics again. The good news is when they devaluate the currency later from Mitt's debt all the rich folks money will be worthless too.

Open your eyes people. Why are you worrying about what MITT ROMNEY does with HIS money when you should be worrying about what OBAMA does with OUR money. If you only knew what OBAMA has REALLY done with OUR money you would be shocked. We will never get out of the hole he has put us in.

There are 5 possiblities why Romney will not release any of his tax returns:

    1. he's much more wealthy than we know, still making millions on his outsourcing deals

    2. he held much $$ in off shore bank accounts outside USA in places like Switzerland and the cayman islands to avoid taxes

    3. he took advantage of a 'tax amnesty' and paid back taxes in exchange for no jail time

    4. he has $$ in a company that profits from abortions or something his party hates like gay marriage tours etc

    5. he has paid less taxes to the US gov't than he paid to the mormon church in tythes. He probably paid 8% income tax to the good old USA but 10% tythes to the church. And even then, he continues to want to cut taxes for the ultra weathy.

Who knows why he won't show his tax returns?? But for sure, he has something to hide

all liberals appear to want every thing for nothing. is this a lack of education do they care that this team in the white house is distroying the country. this is widely understood in europe. under obama there is 20% unemployment in the minority section yet obama has over 90% of there vote whats wrong i find it very disturbing that obama brives them with food stamps not good jobs its offences.

You may want to look at how much money he has made with his investments in Iran to know why Romney isn't releasing his tax records.
