Romney: Wisconsin shooting a 'senseless act of violence'

(CNN) - Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney released a statement Sunday, calling the Sikh temple shooting in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek a "senseless act of violence and a tragedy that should never befall any house of worship."

“Ann and I extend our thoughts and prayers to the victims of today’s shooting in Wisconsin. This was a senseless act of violence and a tragedy that should never befall any house of worship. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Oak Creek Sikh community. We join Americans everywhere in mourning those who lost their lives and in prayer for healing in the difficult days ahead.”

Romney: Obama mandated contraception so he might take your guns too

Romney says Obama will erode the rights of gun owners in speech to NRA

We need a president who will enforce current laws, not create new ones that only serve to burden lawful gun owners," Romney told thousands of NRA members in St. Louis for their annual convention. "President Obama has not. I will."

Running for the Senate in 1994, Romney said: "I don't line up with the NRA." A decade later he became a lifetime NRA member

It's difficult to believe the sincerity of a man who had no compulsions about closing or bankrupting companies which affected , negatively, the lives of thousands and thousands of men, women and children who have lost their homes and their livelihood. Decisions made under the umbrella of 'profitable business decisions'. Somehow it seems as though Mr. Romney too often just says things that he thinks should be said for the moment.

If he is so outraged, why is he not for banning assault weapons – We have the right to bear arms to defend ourselves – not to shoot 100 rounds in a minute, not to fire surface to air missles, bombs, nerve gas – all different types of arms, right. He is a coward not to stand up to the NRA lobby - it is all about Gold, God (in ame only) and Greed - GGG – not about our right for liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

Wish Mitt Romney would react to the rest of the story. How did the gunman get his weapons and ammunition? How can we stop this madness? Why does the NRA hold so much power in this country. WE can follow the second amendment and still ban some of the guns which are not used for hunting. How many more times do we need to see another headline about a gunman openly firing at innocent people? It is not enough to say the people have you thoughts and prayers. They need to know that one of the candidates will prepare legislation to ban the use of certain guns.

Romney went on to say "Clearly the solution to this tragedy is to ensure the rights guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment. Every American of Middle Eastern or Indian descent needs to get a conceal and carry permit and start packing a pistol so they will no longer be a defenseless target. Only when there is a Glock under every turban and an AR-15 under every hijab will America be saf...no wait...let me think on this...in retrospect I'm pretty sure that right only applies to Judeo Christian Americans, and I'm including the Church of Latter Day Saints in that category."

Talk is cheap Mittens. You do not have the balls to tell the NRA that they do not need 100 bullets in their automatic rifles. You have been waging an anti immigration war, telling people to self deport, letting people think that only rich white people are entitled to constitutional rights. You have trashed your opponents the republican party, and have been waging a 'cut and splice' war against the president. Words like foreign, along with embracing birthers, bigots, bat crap crazies, Birchers, cause the mental midgets of the extreme part of your party to do senseless things. You are not presidential Romney, show us your taxes.

Is Romney going to keep hoping evil people have a "change of heart"?
This wasn't "senseless". It was purposeful. The shooter wanted to kill people and he did.
But like they say.. guns don't kill people.. people kill people. People in the last month have just so chosen to use guns they so easily got their hands on.

Yes, what a senseless act of violence!!!! What I don't understand is why Romney insists on keeping up with President Obama by responding when HE WOULD DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!! He and Ann can KEEP THEIR MEANINGLESS HEARTS!!!! I find his response ABSOLUTELY OFFENSIVE, because he is ABSOLUTELY AGAINST GUN CONTROL, and if he becomes President he would do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

This is almost the same message he gave to the Colorado victims. Does he just fill in the blanks on a form and send it out?

Until you are elected, or appointed president quit making noises like you've got the job. You have nothing sewed, so you and your party take your rightful positions, at the corner of keep quiet, and shut up.
