(CNN) - President Barack Obama's re-election effort raised $75 million last month, his campaign announced Monday on Twitter.
The July haul falls far behind Republican rival Mitt Romney's fund-raising team, which raked in more than $101 million–the third month in a row in which Romney outraised Obama.

(CNN) - The Republican National Committee chairman was far from apologetic Monday morning when asked if he took back a recent comment calling Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid a "dirty liar."
"You know there's no triple-down in blackjack but I'll triple down on my comments from yesterday," Reince Priebus said on Fox News. "It's the truth."

New York (CNNMoney) - If lawmakers cannot agree on how to address the pending "fiscal cliff," $7 trillion worth of tax increases and spending cuts will begin to go into effect in January.
The smart money says Congress won't come close to an agreement before the November election, and that lawmakers may not even be able to reach one until early next year. At that point, of course, they'd need to undo at least some of the tax increases and spending cuts that went into effect.

(CNN) - The fundraising effort of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney brought in more than $100 million for the second month in a row, his campaign said Monday morning.
The $101.3 million haul is just shy of the campaign’s June fundraising, which reached $106.1 million.

CNN: Graham, Gibbs tangle over Reid's allegations
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham strongly took issue with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's accusations that Mitt Romney has not paid taxes in 10 years, saying Sunday that the Democratic leader was "lying." "What he did on the floor of the Senate is so out of bounds. I think he's lying about his statement, of knowing something about Romney," Graham said on CNN's "State of the Union."
(CNN) – The liberal nonprofit group Americans United for Change teamed up with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees labor union to release a new television ad Monday, attacking Republicans for opposing tax increases on the very wealthy.
Totaling $280,000, the ad buy will run on cable nationwide Monday and Tuesday, in addition to five spots tailored to attack five Republican members of Congress who the groups deem “vulnerable” this election year. The individualized ads will run in the lawmakers' respective states.
