Romney lands second $100 million month

(CNN) - The fundraising effort of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney brought in more than $100 million for the second month in a row, his campaign said Monday morning.

The $101.3 million haul is just shy of the campaign’s June fundraising, which reached $106.1 million.

Romney's effort ended July with $185.9 million cash on hand, up from the $160 million in the campaign war chest at the end of June.

Both numbers include money raised by Romney's campaign, the Republican National Committee, and several state parties in a joint committee known as Romney Victory.

President Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee, meanwhile, raised $75 million in July, marking the third consecutive month the president has been outraised by his Republican challenger. Obama's similar alliance of committees raised $71 million in June.

Romney's campaign said nearly 95% of donations - some 600,627 - received in July were for $250 or less.

In July, Romney's fundraisers included one held in Jerusalem and attended by major GOP donor Sheldon Adelson.

In announcing the numbers, Romney Victory National Finance Chairman Spencer Zwick said, "We are honored to have the support of a broad spectrum of donors—independents, Democrats and Republicans—whose support of Governor Romney shows that he has the needed plan to jumpstart our economy and get the country on the right track again.

"We are well on track to raise the money to be successful in November," he continued.

Zwick and a couple members of his finance team joined Romney on the road last week, attending closed finance events in Reno, Nevada, as well as one in Sun Valley, Idaho where Romney picked up Clint Eastwood's endorsement. The fundraisers, having occurred in the first week of August, did not factor into July's numbers.

In Sun Valley, Romney's young finance chair spoke briefly about how the campaign has outraised the competition and has more cash on hand than the Obama team.

"I want you to know we're using this money very wisely," Zwick said before urging donors to help them "turn this campaign into a cause" by reaching out to their friends and colleagues across the country.

Just curious...where were all these fundraising bashing liberals when Obama was raising this kind of cash in 2008. Sucks to be on the other side of the spectrum doesn't it?

that money isnt piled up and burned. at least a lot of it goes to the media to pay for advertising and to pay staff, so Romney is probably creating more jobs in the US now than he ever has before.

This is why Americans are sooo stupid..

Not a Socialist Said "95% of donations – some 600,627 – received in July were for $250 or less. " – so much for the 'Citizens United', 'Koch Brothers', 'Corporate Raiders' buying elections lies told by the campaigner-in-chief and the left. Guess you all on the left just lack the strength of your socialist convictions, you know elections are the one thing that someone else can't pay for so cash your welfare check and support your candidate

This stat means that only 5% of his donors gave over 90% of the money he raised the 95% looks at physical people., Which says to me that the "people" are not giving to Romeny and his money is comming from the millionairs and corps.. So the liberals are right. and Romney and his team and the right for that matter really are betting the most of us are not that bright and can be minipulated. TEA PARTY to you really thing the Romney's of the world give a crap about your middle class or poor exsistance. TEA PARTY people do you really think Romney or the right or the Corporations care that you can barely pay your rent or mortgage on Social Security... They are using you like pawns on a chess board, because after all you are only "human capital" as Romney likes to say.

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest America become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

Wow, that is really deep, you described perfectly the GOP. In addition, I will post another quality: The GOP was, is, and will ever be the"NO" voting machine. You probably knew that, didn't you?

Like it or no the presidential candidate with the most money on hand historically has won elections. This is not a good sign for Obama. He is also running against a high unemployment rate with African-Americans and women. I voted for him in 2008 after buying into his "hope & change" promise and thinking he was the cool candidate. He is in way over his head. To get my vote this time he will have to work hard for it.

Well it's a good thing for him because the corporate stooges in the black robes (AKA the Supreme Court) have declared that money is speech. He can't control his own speech so others have given him money.

Wait until the debates, President Obama will wipe the floor with former Governer Romney. Money will not buy the presidency.

Obama brought in $7M and spent $120M. He runs his campaign the same way he runs the country!

He'll need all the money he can get. His buddies in congress keep spending a lot of tax payers money. GOP & Romney wanted to get rid of government waste. Well they just spent $52,000,000 voting on something (ACA) that they knew was going to fail. Just think how many police that could fund, or firemen or teachers or gone towards cancer research... Way to go GOP!!! The $52M figure came from Scott Pelley

    I'll listen to Romney AFTER
1- he puts his complete employment plan on the table. Reducing taxes is not a plan. It is just gravy on the meat and potatoes.
2- he puts his "common sense" health plan on the table. I'd even accept a GOP plan. So far no plan from either.
3- he stands up and does like JFK did about religion instead of pulling a Santorum (force people to live to his beliefs... no such thing a freedom of religion in their views). Education is available to all people, not just the rich folks. All education is available, even if it disagrees with their views. Open people's minds vs "burn the books that they don't agree with".

  17. Republican Not Voting for Romney

Issue not going away, the more he doesn't submit at least 5 years worth of returns the worse it is going to be the next 90 days. What is he hiding? I am getting a little curious myself. Why does he protest so much? He thinks by choosing a VP that the issue will go away, not.

"Do you even know anything about Mitt Romney or do you let the media tell you about him.."

I rather doubt anyone knows the real Mitt Romney ... including Mitt Romney.

But, what the heck ... this IS America after all. Feel free to vote for whomever you want.

As soon as Obama releases his college information, I will support having Romney release additional tax returns. Obama mouthpiece asked why someone would work so hard not to release information.....ask Obama why HE worked so hard not to release his birth certificate.....

So jobs creators found $175 Million$$ laying around last month to use to bribe politicians. How many jobs could $175 Million$ have created last month?

Keep the anonymous donations flowing! Not one thing the Obama mafia can do to you. It’s much better than giving to the GOP because the Super PAC's own a pair and don't have to be politically correct. They aren't as slimy as Harry Reid (who is) but they can roll in the mud the Chicago thugs.

Funny, this past month may have been Romney's worst yet in terms of voter perception, which is the entire point of raising all this money in the first place.

Does not matter how much money Mitt raises….as a matter of fact…Jesus could come down and donate and extra million to Mitt Romney and he will still lose every debate to the President.

Republicans know that Mitt Romney is incompetent. He is the worse politician…we all know politicians talk in circles around an issue. Mitt Romney talks zigzag lines and never makes any sense! He just sounds so incompetent and stupid every time he opens his mouth…pathetic.
