Priebus: Romney will outspend Obama in coming months

(CNN) - The chairman of the Republican National Committee on Friday predicted the tables would soon turn in the presidential election, saying Americans can expect to see a lot more of Mitt Romney due to fund-raising hauls by the GOP.

"We now are in a position to oustpend (President Barack Obama's re-election effort) on television and tell our story and tell the Mitt Romney story, starting with our convention and going through the fall," Reince Priebus said on CNN's "Starting Point."

Recent polls have shown Romney's popularity is slipping, including a new CNN/ORC International survey released Thursday that indicates 48% of Americans have an unfavorable view of the presumptive GOP nominee, up from 42% in June.

Defending Romney, Priebus blamed the numbers on negative ads by the Obama campaign, saying the former Massachusetts governor has been the subject of attacks by the other side for a year.

"What you're seeing is the effect of tens of millions of dollars that are on TV," he said.

As of June 30, Obama's campaign had spent $153.6 million this cycle, compared to Romney's team at $106.5 million, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

But Romney's campaign, along with the Republican National Committee, raised $101.3 million in July, marking the third month in a row in which the Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee together were outraised by Republicans.

Once Romney becomes the official nominee at the GOP convention in late August, he'll be able to tap into more funds to spend in the final months of the race for the White House.

"I think you're going to see us being able to outspend our opponent at the end, whereas Barack Obama outspent us tremendously over the past year," Priebus said.

In fund-raising emails, the Obama campaign repeatedly says Obama will be the first incumbent president to be outspent by the opponent.

Yeh Sure I watched him squirm when asked directly about Romney's taxes. He tried everything to deflect the question even to saying that it didn't matter when everybody understands that Romney is hiding something and could make it all go away by releasing them just as his father did. I am sure that some lunatic on this blog will trot out Obama's collage records in a vain attempt to deflect the Romney question too. Face it Romney is a thief.

You're bragging that you're going to spend MORE than the other guy? And one of the major issues is the economy? And how the other guy is spending too much of OUR money? So why don't we limit campaigning to $250,000 and 3 months. Why don't we have a contest where all the candidates and their PACs vie for who can collect the most money to pay down the national debt?

I do not know if it will matter. Romney has already been defined and there is little ads can do now to show that he is not a megawealthy tax-cheat. No one really likes the guy and people voting for him are only doing so because they have a deep-seated hatred for President Obama. More money does not always mean victory. You are going to saturate the airwaves at a time where everyone will be tuning out, but go ahead and spend away.

the test is how gullible the american people will be to sell their own personal interest to corporate greed. lesson folks we are living in the 21st century not the 20th or the 19th century. we are sending stuff to a different planet for crying out loud, not the moon. the world is changing this means machines and computer systems will be taking over human labor, and all the repubs can do is take away educations to advance technically. their logic of dirty oil pollution, which killing the earth slowly and our mankind, and deregulating and taxcuts to the rich will put this country into somthing which will be calaclistic. obama is doing the right thing by fighting for clean energy and less polution and sending money to the middle class instead of the rich is the way to go. because when your the middle man both side benefits. but if your on either end one side benefits and the other two is sent down the middle without a paddle.

And here I was thinking Mitt Romney doesn't have a story to tell. Apparently he's going to continue to keep his secrets after all, because here is RNC Chairman Priebus kindly explaining that "The Real Mitt Romney" story will only cover the Republican Convention days – and subsequently end – at the Republican Convention days. With a great deal of backslapping, cheering, and overall "togetherness" being strictly adhered to for the pride of GOPer oneness. Not that it matters that only a handful of GOPers actually want Romney as their candidate, mind you. Didn't matter that a majority of GOPers didn't want Palin on the ticket back in 2008, either - a great deal of double-talk went on back then, also too. As long as the photo ops can be pasted into commercials, all will be well.

Guess it'll be up to the DNC to fill in those lost years of Romney policy-making and corporate raider-ship.

The Presidency of the United States of American is NOT for sale to the highest bidder! Until Romney comes up with more that his "cutesy" name-calling, his pronouncements, his declarations, his announcements, and his proclamations, and comes with some "HOW' discussion, he gets no votes from me. And, no tax returns like those before him have done and he is expected to do also equals no vote from me.

Mr. Bus Washer (R(e)ins(c)e (Pri)Bus), of course you are correct! Your ilk cheated an election in 2004, now you are trying to buy an election. This is no news; I sincerely hope that the GOP will face a stinging rebuke from the voters that will send you slinking under the rock whence you came from.

Monkey-wrench PR BS is proud to tell us all about how much MONEY! they have. He's so out of touch that he is actually proud of trying to buy the election. For the Rich-publicans, it's all about MONEY! While the whole world is disgusted by the selling of the presidency, Rince-wash-repeat-bus is smiling and gleeful. Out. Of. Touch.

So is Mr. Preiebus is admitting that Gov. Romney is going to purchase the election and not win because he is a better candidate or would be a better president?

    Obama 2012 – Forward!

This Mr. Caterpillar doesn't understand anything. With all the money in this world, no one can buy peoples way of thinking. People went to school, they are well educated, they know how to think themselves and hence come to conclusion how to make their right decisions.

Outspend with more lies. How many outtakes are you going to use to distort what the President really said. You could spend as much as you want, we won't buy what you're selling.
