Palin makes brief mention of Ryan, Romney in V.P. statement

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had little to say to her 2012 counterpart in a statement released nearly twelve hours after Mitt Romney made his running mate announcement.

"Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate," Palin wrote in a statement, which mentioned Romney's name only four times and Ryan's name only three out of over 1,100 words. The statement was posted on her Facebook page.

By the second sentence - and for the next 13 paragraphs - she focused her attention on President Barack Obama.

"Barack Obama's record is one of dismal failure, which is why he isn't talking about it," she wrote in the statement, which was posted Saturday evening. "He would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents."

To the current candidate's credit, she continued, "The simple fact remains that Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration."

In a negative way, she said "Obama's vision for America will make the rest of the country look like California, minus the beautiful scenery and warm weather," citing the state's spending on a stalled train project, environmental policies, unemployment, taxes, and "endless budget shortfalls."

Palin has endorsed candidates in races for the U.S. Senate, but has not formerly endorsed Romney. She said she voted for former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich in the Alaska primary, and encouraged voters in early primary states to support him.

"Please continue to focus on the presidential race and on helping Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but it's also imperative that we get involved in the nation's important House and Senate races," she wrote. "These candidates need our help to ensure that our next president has a responsible and ethical Congress that actually gets things done for America. Now on to November!"

Palin recently made headlines after former Vice President Dick Cheney said in an interview that McCain's selection of Palin was a "mistake" for 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain - a notion on which she strenuously pushed back.

- CNN's Gregory Wallace and Peter Hamby contributed to this report.

Sarah Palin needs to keep herself on the spot light so her enterprises bloom. She is not a king maker, she is a heater and bigot who uses her plataform to inject the worst feeling she has in her soul. The simple fact remains that President Obama was not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence when he took office. He inherited the mess from the previous administration and has worked as hard as congress has allowed to make things better. He worked his full term,in office, he did not stop after a couple of years like you cowardly did Ms. Palin...................

Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration." Corruption? Incompetence? She would do well to look at a few economic graphics and stop cherry picking some things of lesser importance. And no ANONYMOUS. Her response IS lukewarm. She doesn't (and well she shouldn't) trust either of them, but she has to do her part.

Mop said it all at 10:46 a.m. but it's worth repeating:

"Every time i see a picture of her, the first thing that comes to mind is:
    Duct tape"

    Thank you

Palin's nothing more than a self-absorbed valley girl who feeds on attention and throws hissy fits anytime someone criticizes or critiques her in a bad light. She can dish it out but sure can't take it. Her appearance on the 2008 McCain
ticket resulted in 9.5 million popular vote loss. Yeah, she's a real force in the republican party. NOT!

Before Palin can talk about the "state of the economy" she must first know how to spell it and if you haven't noticed Palin has never engaged herself in any economic debate because she's limited, always has been and always will be.

I, for one, like Sarah Palin. A lady that isn't afraid to speak out on the pitiful state of our government. As for Obummer-he made the promise to straighten out our economy in his first term-he has not only failed to do this-he has skyrocketed our deficit and put more people on welfare than ever before. He also lied when he made the statement about marriage-being between a man and a woman. He changed his mind to get the gay vote. He is a loser president-period.

You have to wonder if Mittens made a mistake here. There are so many brainless slogan shouters in the Republican party, like Palin, who can't be pinned down on any issue because they don't really say anything. Ryan, as what passes for a "thinker" in his dumbed-down party, has said things that can be criticized, and disagreed with, not to mention being wildly unpopular with old people. He might have been better off with Sarah, or one of her many imitators.

Palin speaks of traditional Christian family values but conveniently avoids the fact that her daughter got knocked up and that her son knocked up a girl. Nice parenting job from the valley girl. Has anyone heard about her lawsuit against Joe McGinniss, the author who wrote a book about her? I haven't. Guess everything in the book was true, including her romp in the hay with a professional basketball player.

This lady is, and will always be irrelevant, except Fox does not know it, yet. What losers. At any rate, who cars what she thinks.

Wow – what spectacular and analytical reporting. This is really something I wanted to know – how many times Sara Palin mentioned Romney & Ryans name. This is what you have as the lead story on this page. CNN is a sad excuse for a news organization.

Remember at the beginning of Sarah's campaign how she shoved tons of clothes into a plane bought with questionable money? The red shirt she's wearing was among them.

And Sarah Palin's endorsement is important...exactly WHY? Does it really matter who she thinks would be the better POTUS? She did not exactly cover herself with glory during the 2008 Election, did she? Certainly hasn't done anything worthy of news attention (or ours for that matter) in the intervening time.

tommariner: your claim Sarah Palin was attacked during the 2008 campaign "because she was a woman" is a laughable defense of a pathetic, completely unqualified candidate for office. Rather, it was because she was unqualified, hateful and spiteful and could offer NOTHING to the American voting public.

I like the way she uses California as a negative example 🙂

Never mind the Golden State enjoyed a republican governor (i.e. Arnie) for 8 out of the last 9 years...

Sarah Palin have all these accomplishments over Obama and why is she still so dumb? Difference in schooling ( GO TO SCHOOL)

Romney have two Harvard Degrees. why is he so dumb? (Should have attended Classes), Obama have one ( Maybe it's natural)

You've got to be kidding me! McCain choosing her is the reason we've had four years of Obama. The less said about (and from) this woman, the better.

I know you can't reply to these posts, but I had to respond to that laughable lib "Heinrich v. Schimmer" who squawks about how California's problems are because of a Republican governer. Thanks for my laugh for the day. You libs scream and squawk about how Obama isn't successful because of those nasty Republicans running the House, but then you blame a Republican governor when the the rest of the California government has been run by libs for decades? Oh the irony!!

Palin is limited, limited, limited that's why she speaks no different than a thug hanging out on a street corner, nothing positive just all negative like all street talking thugs.

The Quitta speaks nonsense as usual. The only people who think President Obama's first term has been "a failure" are those who listen exclusively to Fox and the Limbaugh types, all paid mouthpieces of the GOP whose failed policies took our country down the toilet.

Mittens 'n' Munster want to continue the destructive GOP policies of favoring the rich, gutting the Middle Class and keeping our nation perpetually at war. Voting for them is a vote to go back to the days of shedding 800,000 jobs a month, unregulated, out-of-control Wall Street and more isolation and warmongering.

    Obama/Biden 2012 = The only sane choice

All those staunch GOPhers who warned against nominating Romney because "he won't be able to beat Obana" were correct. Now Romney is trying to make lemonade out of lemons, but . . . Ryan "ain't" the sugar needed to turn lemon juice into a refreshing beverage.

    Palin is, as always, irrelevant.
