Palin makes brief mention of Ryan, Romney in V.P. statement

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had little to say to her 2012 counterpart in a statement released nearly twelve hours after Mitt Romney made his running mate announcement.

"Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate," Palin wrote in a statement, which mentioned Romney's name only four times and Ryan's name only three out of over 1,100 words. The statement was posted on her Facebook page.

By the second sentence - and for the next 13 paragraphs - she focused her attention on President Barack Obama.

"Barack Obama's record is one of dismal failure, which is why he isn't talking about it," she wrote in the statement, which was posted Saturday evening. "He would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents."

To the current candidate's credit, she continued, "The simple fact remains that Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration."

In a negative way, she said "Obama's vision for America will make the rest of the country look like California, minus the beautiful scenery and warm weather," citing the state's spending on a stalled train project, environmental policies, unemployment, taxes, and "endless budget shortfalls."

Palin has endorsed candidates in races for the U.S. Senate, but has not formerly endorsed Romney. She said she voted for former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich in the Alaska primary, and encouraged voters in early primary states to support him.

"Please continue to focus on the presidential race and on helping Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but it's also imperative that we get involved in the nation's important House and Senate races," she wrote. "These candidates need our help to ensure that our next president has a responsible and ethical Congress that actually gets things done for America. Now on to November!"

Palin recently made headlines after former Vice President Dick Cheney said in an interview that McCain's selection of Palin was a "mistake" for 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain - a notion on which she strenuously pushed back.

- CNN's Gregory Wallace and Peter Hamby contributed to this report.

Consider a billionaire businessman (Romney) that avoids paying American taxes at every turn by off-shoring his bank accounts. Combine Romney with a House Budget Committeeman (Chairman Ryan) who authorizes two unpaid wars; an unpaid prescription drug benefit for seniors; a deregulation of the financial industry by overturning Glass-Steagall; who discounts the support of public sector workers; and who neglects financing the nation's infrastructure, then the likelihood of a recession is quite predictable when the bills come due. Sarah Palin is lukewarm because she knows that President Obama has done a phenomenal job to pull us out from the Romney-Ryan Recession.

In 2010, Paul Ryan won reelection the 7th time in the Democratic district in Wisconsin-with 65% of the vote!! *wink*

Making him nothing more than a career politican whose ratings are sinking nationally in 2012 ... *wink*

Even Sarah Palin had higher approval ratings, indeed the highest on record when she was chosen, and look where she is sitting today – on that nowhere bridge going nowhere. Expect the same for Paul Ryan.

Keep telling yourself this hon.........With Paul Ryan now on the ticket--Obama's disasterous 3-1/2 year economy/unemployment rate will be exposed for voters!!! The incompetent Obama will no longer be able to hide behind gay marriage and tax returns!! Obama and the liberals definitely did not want this to happen!!

Poor Sarah Palin. How is she going to get attention when she isn't selected as VP?

... make the rest of the country look like California? What's wrong with that? If California were a separate country it would be what, the 8th largest economy. The people are nice, the governor is smart and driven to do great things for California, and thus the country, unlike the separatist drivel emanating from the Palin camp.

Palin persists with the toxic rhetoric, against, it seems, anyone and everyone, because she simply isn't intelligent enough to do anything else. She really should see a shrink.

McCain's pick of Sarah Palin as his VP running mate in 2008 set the new standard for selecting that position. Unfortunately the bar was set lower than ever before. She was selected as a "game changer" which she definitely was but not in the way they wanted. She was in no way ready to take over if the situation arose. Heaven help everyone if that had happened. She has lost all credibility as a reasonable spokesman for the Republican Party. It remains to be seen if Paul Ryan can be a more positive game changer. At their campaign events together so far he appears to be overshadowing Romney. Romney looks kind of quiet and forlorn in the corner waiting for his turn to speak. It must be hard following someone who has revved up the crowd and then you have to say the same tired old rhetoric. Both of them lack foreign affairs experience and in this day and age that is crucial. Yes, the economy is very important but national security is just as important. Many seem to be forgetting that.

Why is the media still talking to this loser. Her own nomination was a mistake, pointed out by McCain himself. The world needs to focus at the problem at hand, Romney/Ryan. Now THIS is a toxic duo.

Sarah had her day in the sun; now it is time for someone else to rise and shine. She and her family should not have been so mouthy and maybe things would have been different. You can't hang your laundry out for everyone to see and expect to have any respect. R and R will make an excellent change to our economy.

and Palin. The GOP wants to distance themseleves from these dopes, maybe the GOP is smart.

Why did she not say more about the pairing of Romney-Ryan? Probably because she hasn't been handed the talking points yet. She's still working off her "We hate Obama" notes.

Hey Weasley: California is hundreds of billions in the hole about to go bankrupt (they've had at least three metro area to declare bankruptcy).

What's wrong with that? Libertards running the once great state into the ground the way of Greece. You like that?

ALL you have is petty insults of the most baseless school yard type.

The reality is that 'you' are simply filled with corrosive animosity as a form of projecting your own failings.

Sarah Palin was (Governor of a State) - while Obama was just a Senator (us)
Sarah Palin was( Mayor of a City) - while Obama was just a Senator (state)
Sarah Palin was (Twice City Council) - while Obama was was in school
Sarah Palin was (Running a Business) - while Obama Community Disorganized

Get over the stale Katie and Gibson interviews as the only reason to hang your biased, bigoted, or hateful hat on. Do you speak Austrian, know of 57 States, or consider Joe Biden 'worthy' of #2?

Conservative Governor Sarah Palin is the King Maker in American Politics today with nearly 75% of her endorsements BEATING the Establishment hacks in both parties ...she is transforming our political system right before your eyes.

Getting SICK of Right Wingers bashing California. FACT: California's deficit is DIRECTLY tied to the MASSIVE Enron scandal that PURPOSELY targeted California. You remember Enron, the company that Bush and Cheney met with immediately upon taking office, in a secret meeting that people on both the Left & the Right decried as illegal. Enron ripped California off of about 15 Billion. Guess how much the California deficit is?
