Palin makes brief mention of Ryan, Romney in V.P. statement

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, had little to say to her 2012 counterpart in a statement released nearly twelve hours after Mitt Romney made his running mate announcement.

"Congratulations to Mitt Romney on his choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate," Palin wrote in a statement, which mentioned Romney's name only four times and Ryan's name only three out of over 1,100 words. The statement was posted on her Facebook page.

By the second sentence - and for the next 13 paragraphs - she focused her attention on President Barack Obama.

"Barack Obama's record is one of dismal failure, which is why he isn't talking about it," she wrote in the statement, which was posted Saturday evening. "He would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents."

To the current candidate's credit, she continued, "The simple fact remains that Mitt Romney is not responsible for the dire state of our economy or the corruption and incompetence of the current administration."

In a negative way, she said "Obama's vision for America will make the rest of the country look like California, minus the beautiful scenery and warm weather," citing the state's spending on a stalled train project, environmental policies, unemployment, taxes, and "endless budget shortfalls."

Palin has endorsed candidates in races for the U.S. Senate, but has not formerly endorsed Romney. She said she voted for former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich in the Alaska primary, and encouraged voters in early primary states to support him.

"Please continue to focus on the presidential race and on helping Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but it's also imperative that we get involved in the nation's important House and Senate races," she wrote. "These candidates need our help to ensure that our next president has a responsible and ethical Congress that actually gets things done for America. Now on to November!"

Palin recently made headlines after former Vice President Dick Cheney said in an interview that McCain's selection of Palin was a "mistake" for 2008 GOP presidential nominee John McCain - a notion on which she strenuously pushed back.

- CNN's Gregory Wallace and Peter Hamby contributed to this report.

What does this have to do with Romney's tax returns? What's he hiding?

The over under is 1000 on the number of times Obama and his PACS will distort and lie about What Ryan's budget, medicare, and social security proposals really call for. Just remember one thing regarding Ryan's peoposals tpo save Social Security and Medicare - every time Obama say Seniors will be hurt, remember that Ryan's proposals change nothing for anyone who is 55 or older --

It's amazing how dumb Palin is. While she tries to bash the POTUS she openly admits that the do nothing Congress is the real problem. Sarah Palin " I'm Dumber than Rocks"

This has to stop, this woman has no relevance to anything in the political arena at all. Sarah Palin for the most annoying person of the decade!

  6. Palin is irrelevant

One of the best decisions Mitt Romney has done is NOT invite Sarah Palin to the Convention - and with the selection of Ryan, Sarah becomes even more irrelevant

Palin says Obama would rather spend his time demonizing his opponents? Now that is rich. Every word this woman spews is a vile attack on anybody who does not agree with her. Not to mention that Romney is running the most negative campaign in recent memory, but she makes no mention of that. She has a lot of nerve criticizing the Obama campaign for attacking their opponents.

Sarah Palin is a sorry excuse for a human being and should do the world a favor and just go away never to be heard from again.

The GOP needs all hands on deck to give Obama his retirement package including Sarah Palin.

    Eric of Resedea,

Clearly you are off your meds and either wholly ignorant of simple accounting or just plain ignorant.

California has DECADES of complete and total mismanagement that is SOLELY because of SPENDING MORE than your INCOME will allow.

BTW, are you an illegal alien? 🙂

I read anything Sarah says for comic relief. That being said, I want to post some truth from one person's experience about California, social programs and hope. My daughter moved from the midwest one year ago . She came with 3 kids on the greyhound and a suitcase for each of them. There was unable to find opportunity at all in Missouri. When she arrived in California, she applied for state assistance (yes, welfare), enrolled in a trade college, graduated, and is now employed full-time. Exactly one year later, she is in her own apartment with her kids (no co-signer on the lease and is NOT Section 8), she closed the cash part of her welfare case and in 3 months will have full medical benefits from her employer. In one year after that, the rest of her benefits will cease: daycare assistance and food stamps and she will be 100% self-supporting. I'll take California , the welfare to work program and of course, the beautiful weather and scenery ANY DAY.

someone needs to muzzle this "pit bull with lipstick"! it amazes me that someone who didn't even finish her term in office gets so much attention by the media and the GOP. Sarah Palin is redundant and the media needs to end giving her any attention.

Just wanted to point out that we've had (with the exception of current term and one recall) Republican governors for the last two decades.

All the hate inside of Palin is coming out in a sad, old way that plastic surgery can't keep up with. You just know she had her eyes done and has been wearing those strange sunglasses. She doing all this to recapture the bloom of her youth which is fading fast with that thin twisted mouth, bulging eyes and frozen face. She has such a hard-o* for President Obama that the foam from her mouth runs down her chin when she speaks of him...every single waking moment of her being. She thinks of him day and night and I'd bet in her dreams and every moment of every day. It's really scary. She reminds me of Bernice on that old show Designing Women, just not as funny. Wait, maybe she is. She is obsessed with Mr. Obama and not just on the political side. "please look at me, Mr. President!"

I guess mama grizzly is looking for some attention. Hannity's probably not returning her calls this week. Here's an idea, have another book written for you and stamp your name on it.then you and Todd can go on another book tour. Unless he's too busy "hunting".

I lived in Wisconsin under Ryan and he is awesome. Paying off debt is hard and there is no easy way. It always hurts. If we don't start now it would hurt so much more to pay it off after Obama is out of office. 15 trillion and counting.........Ouch! after interest we are on the hook for 40 trillion! Do we want to let Obama continue?
Let me put it this way, During Obama's term Obama put out ZERO budget proposals. Paul Ryan put out three. We couldn't run our households this way. We would be homeless. If we keep this up our country, then our country WILL belong to someone else.
